I want to learn about how to design a board with a microprocessor to be able to program and use as a microcontroller.

If you're looking at this from a hobbyist point of view, then I would recommend looking around Microchip's site www.microchip.com and their forum forums.microchip.com They tend to be very popular controllers for hobbyists as well as professionals

i like Owen. Dominic and Lucian are great-looking. Doyle is amazing in quirky kinda way. i don't possibly look after Connor. it style of feels a splash uncomplicated/boring particularly in comparison to your different possibilities. So Owen gets my vote. Owen Dominic or Owen Doyle may be incredible! solid success and Congrats!

Engineering classes on robotics are probably your best bet - also classes on control systems.
