I am an MD. That means I am NOT a vet. However, if your cat has Pseudomonas in his ear, in humans this is referred to as "otitis externa" or "swimmer's ear". It can be very successfully treated with a 50:50 mixture of vinegar and water, dropped into the ear 3-4 times per day. I hope this helps.

I agree with sciencenut. That would probably be the best bet to get rid of it. P. aeruginosa is notoriously resistant to antibiotics, which is why doctors don't like to see it within patients. Unfortunately when you find it in something like the bladder, lungs, or other internal parts, you can't douse it with vinegar! I work in a hospital lab, and our Vitech microbiology analyzer will not only identify the bacteria, but also test it against common antibiotics. I've seen P. aeruginosa be resistant to 90+% of available antibiotics. It's actually a scarier bug than MRSA, which the media frequently talks about. Sorry about my ramblings, just figured I'd give you some extra info. In any case, yes, do use the vinegar, and best of luck!!!

well i guess the best thing to do is take it back to the vet and tell him that the antibiotic is not killing the bacteria. see if he can help with that!
