I was speaking to my jw friend and i suddenly found it they never said they had gotten a vision or that god spoke to them which is how prophets were defined back then. I did hear they made mistakes but then it wasnt based on their reasoning but only on their expectations. I mean that time they made the mistake can be found on the bible meaning the bible did mention that date already but they dint understand it clearly. My friend also showed me examples of how jesus apostles in the bible had to change many things because their expectations were wrong. For exxample they thought the kingdom of the heaven would demonstrate itself in a certain time but then as the holy spirit helped them out it clarified the way to them because even though they had the holy spirit they were still humans and made mistakes. The bible also says the word of god is like a light that gets clearer and clearer so basically the mistake wasnt based on us but on that we dint understand why the bible arrives that date.

True but In religion, a prophet (or prophetess) is a person who has directly encountered the numinous or the divine and serves as an intermediary with humanity. In Abrahamic religion, a prophet is seen as a person who has encountered, and speaks as a formal representative of, God; some are understood as founding or revitalizing a religion based on their teachings. so u see ur definition does not apply to the bible.

Anti-Witnesses regularly propagandize outrageous accusations against Jehovah's Witnesses, which is sad but unsurprising. The enemies of Jesus Christ similarly pretended that Jesus claimed he was God!
(John 5:18-19) The Jews began seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath [in the opinion of Jesus' enemies] but he was also calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God [in the opinion of Jesus' enemies]. Therefore, in [refutative] answer, Jesus went on to say to them: “Most truly I say to you, The Son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative, but only what he beholds the Father doing
Jehovah's Witnesses have never pretended that they are infallible or inspired. Jehovah's Witnesses have never pretended that they experience miraculous messages from God or Christ. For more than a century, Jehovah's Witnesses have always presented their suppositions as the result of sincere bible research, rather than as "predictions" or "prophesying".
Interestingly, however, even those Christians who did enjoy direct communication from heaven at times came to wrong conclusions; these wrong conclusions were even communicated "out among the brothers"!
For example, the apostle Peter enjoyed remarkable privileges in the early congregation, but it seems that he was the source of an incorrect teaching about the apostle John that was not formally corrected until several DECADES had passed, and John himself finally wrote his gospel about 98 C.E.
(John 21:21-23) Peter said to Jesus: “Lord, what will this man do [that is, the apostle John]?” Jesus said to him: “If it is my will for him to remain until I come, of what concern is that to you? You continue following me.” In consequence, this saying went out among the brothers, that [the apostle John] would not die. However, Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but: “If it is my will for him to remain until I come, of what concern is that to you?”
Jehovah's Witnesses apply the term "prophet" only in a very limited sense to themselves as a religion, not to individuals. The Scriptures indicate that whenever Jehovah purposes to execute judgment upon a people, he always makes arrangement for a 'prophet's work' as a warning. Their self-description as a "prophet" (in this limited sense) does not indicate special inspired knowledge or foreknowledge, but their willingness to perform Christ's assigned warning work in our day leading up to Armageddon.
What group is working harder than Jehovah's Witnesses to preach God's message globally (as Noah did before the Deluge)?
(Amos 3:7) For the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will not do a thing unless he has revealed his confidential matter to his servants the prophets.
(2 Peter 2:5) Noah, a preacher of righteousness...
(Matthew 24:14) And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

Ok, first of all there is alot of misinformation here.
Muffin -"Jesus is the Messiah.JW's to my knowledge don't believe he has been here yet.Hence they don't observe Christmas or Easter. To me that is not a Christian faith. That and only that reason is why I don't except their faith."
We dont observe Christmas nor Easter because they have pagan roots and in reality have nothing to do with Jesus in the first place. Jesus return and presence is already here. Remember the disciples asked about Jesus presence in Matt 24. Jesus gave a sign that we would see on earth that indicated when he began rule in heaven. What you may be referring is that Jesus has yet to execute his judgement on wickedness here on earth.
Ime - "They have a lot of false prophesy , not only once but several times and their version of the Bible is so misinterpreted but they claim to have reputable scholars who translated it but no one will take credit for it at least no one creditable and its called "the new world translation of the Holy scriptures " why not the Holy Bible?? "
The title of the bible is not important. There are many bible versions out there, King James Version, The Catholic Bible, New Living Translation, American Std Bible, etc. The most important point is its accuracy, not the title. Does the bible use Gods name? Is it gramatically correct to reflect the correct understanding in its original context? Does it add additional bible books not in the original canon? Those are questions that are more important when deciding which bible to use.
4Jesus- "The Jehovahs overburden people. They weigh them down with works (having to go door to door)....They will tell you that you can't celebrate your bday although being born is a gift from the Lord. "
First of all no one forces anyone to go preaching. JW considered it a privelge to do this work. You have to qualify to have this privelege. The question is to ask is why wouldn't I want to go preaching and help individuals? Secondly, the custom of birthday celebrations are pagan. Bible accounts put a birthday celebrations in a negative light and make no mention that Jesus celebrated his birthday. Don't get me wrong, I am certainly happy and glad that I was born, and life is a gift from god, but that does not mean its a license to do whatever we want.

You will get ansews like this: Statement: Jehovah's Witnesses have never pretended that they are infallible or inspired. Reply: The Watchtower has claimed to be a spirit filled organization and the mouth peice of Jehovah. _______ Statement: For more than a century, Jehovah's Witnesses have always presented their suppositions as the result of sincere bible research, rather than as "predictions" or "prophesying". Reply: People's lives have been greatly affected by "suppositions" of the Watchtower. And the there are many "predictions" or "prophesying" both implicit and explicit. All a person needs do is read the history of these quite specific foretellings. The Watchtower teachings are vastly different today than that of a centuary ago. (See: link 1) _______ Statement: Jehovah's Witnesses apply the term "prophet" only in a very limited sense to themselves as a religion, not to individuals. Reply: Limited prophet? As a religion? No such thing. The JWs hang on every word coming out of the Watchtower. The JWs religion is Watchtowerism, The JWs hang on every word and dogma porceeding out of the "slave" in New York. _______ Statement: The Scriptures indicate that whenever Jehovah purposes to execute judgment upon a people, he always makes arrangement for a 'prophet's work' as a warning. Their self-description as a "prophet" (in this limited sense) does not indicate special inspired knowledge or foreknowledge, but their willingness to perform Christ's assigned warning work in our day leading up to Armageddon. Reply: 1. This part indicates what the Watchtower denies: "foreknowledge" 'execute judgment upon a people, he always makes arrangement for a 'prophet's work' as a warning'. 2. And also uses: execute judgment warning Armageddon All words ladden with meaning to JWs. (See link 2) 3. And clearly states that "prophet is a self description". _______ The structure will collapse when briefly examined, so will the WT, it's spokepersons, and teachings.

The "pro" in prophet means "in favour of, without necessarily being affiliated with", rather than "before." Abraham is the first prophet in the Bible. He was a tent-dweller after he left Ur. Compare 1 Peter 1 for a discussion of living as a stranger in the world.
I disagree with Jehovah's Witnesses over the following prophetic points:
Daniel 2:43 means that clay is Israel/Judah (compare Isaiah 64:8) and iron is Rome, rather than England and America.
Jeremiah 25:18 shows that the judgement against Jerusalem had already begun when this part of Jeremiah was written.
Verse 12 shows that the seventy years had ended by the time Babylon fell to Medo-Persia.

It's good that you heard your friend and him backing up the scriptures. Why don't you read some ex-Jehovah witnesses testimonies as well. Then make up your mind what you believe. Do your own research and pray about it to God to lead you into His Truth. (Not man made rules)

Jesus died for you & me & the worlds sin so we can have eternal life.
John 3:16
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Jesus is the way the truth and the life
John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 8:32
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free
The Jehovahs overburden people. They weigh them down with works (having to go door to door).
Ephesians 2:8-9
8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith(in Jesus)—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.
They will tell you that you can't celebrate your bday although being born is a gift from the Lord.
Psalm127:3
3 Sons are a heritage from the LORD,
children a reward from him.
If you fall into sin, they disfellowship with you & if they see you on the street they won't talk to you. Even though they all seem nice they even tell you to disown your own children if they fall away from JW. Sorry to me that would be a big burden on my heart to disown my family or children if they fell away from their faith. Jesus is freedom, love, grace, joy.
My best advice to you is search dear friend search. Don't just listen to one side. Examine both sides earnestly & PRAY!

My church does not go around saying that they are the only true church and then foretell something that never happens and I don't believe that the prophets of old did that either. The Bible clearly states that if prophecy comes from God it will happen and if from man it will not come to pass. So therefore they are false prophets , and not to mention how their beliefs change from year to year ,one year they believe that organ donation is wrong and the next year its right. Come on God is perfect and doesn't work like that.

Jehovahs Witnesses believe we wil be resurrected as perfect humans, to live on a perfect Earth. Due to this belief, they go in "reverse" regarding their understanding of the Bible. (Get more ignorant). Despite their claims of getting "new" knowledge every day. Instead of accepting what God is giving us Now, according to the Word. "Knowledge will be increased." And "The Holy Spirit will be poured out on ALL flesh, and we will prophecy, and have visions, and dream dreams."

The Watchtower magizine dated April 1 1972 shows where they claim to be a prophet.
A prophet was either a true prophet or a false prophet.
Their history shows many errors in their setting of dates.
