Wow do I ever understand. I had my suicide so well planned as to where and how so as to not disurb anyone or the house. But I could never get me house perfect enough to leave it to the family.

I have been on Premarin for 29 years (sythetic estrogen) I was concerned about not being able to wean off of it. Weaning off caused me to become more and more depressed. That was one cause.

The other I have learned is that I have an underactive thyroid and that can be another cause of depression and autoimmune disorder. I now have Rheumatoid arthritis, which is from autoimmune disorder.

The Synthroid Medication and staying constant on the Premarin is keeping me emotionally normal, THANK GOD.

I also take vitamins and suppliments from a to z and that has helped also. May I recommend your taking a really good quality Multivitamin morning and night for a month or so to get your system up and running better. Then go to once a day.

See your Doctor and have a Thyroid and Hormone test run to see if these could be contributing factors.

These will be simple tests (see another Doctor if you need to)
Yours should have run a couple of simple tests.

Google Hypothyroidism and see if any of the symptoms sound like yours. Also low estrogen.

Good Luck. Start with the vitamins that is better than nothing. You really can get better. All of this has happening to me in the past 5 years and now I am 90% normal. It feels great.

Seek the advise of another Dr., it sounds like you need some help. Depression that lingers needs medications and careful monitoring by a decent caring Dr. There are some out there who think you just tell yourself to get better, use willpower and that other BS.
There are many decent meds for depression and not all depression is an automatic life sentence. Many people experience a bout of two of acute depression in life due to a chemical imbalance in the brain. For most people a course of treatment for six months, monitored by your doctor, will see the problem gone. In many cases never to rear it's ugly head again.
Other forms may be uncurable but certainly managable once you find the meds that suit your body chemistry. A good doctor will want regular appt. every few weeks for the first months, many of these drugs take weeks before you or your dr. will notice a difference.
Please go see another Dr., aren't we alway told to get a second opinion, it could save you a lot of pain and agony. do it for you, Dr.'s are not always right.

Details? Perhaps your doctor believes your depression is not a clinical depression, but depression brought on by some event in your life that, although sad, is something you will recover from in the goodness of time.

It's always best to try to get back to normal without medication, although it's hard.

If you believe you DO suffer from clinical depression and your doctor refuses to provide you with what you consider to be adequate prescription-style help, visit another doctor. Just because one doctor says no doesn't mean a different doctor won't say yes. . . that's a little something they like to call, "getting a second opinion".

Finally, depression can be treatable through therapy? Are you open to that possibility? Psychiatrists can prescribe medication, and the combination of therapy and medication might be just what the doctor ordered.

Good luck.
