yes all these questions are right but there is one thing missing. You get browny points for being in the catholic club. In other words you may get treated better and have reduced rate of tuition. Not everything can be done out of the kindness of someones haert, occasionaly you have to protect people, but in the end you would rather protect your pocket book. yes being in the club is something they ask you on your application, if your not you got to pay up.

First a little clarification: All Catholics are Christian, but not all Christians are Catholic.
Are these schools you mention in inner cities or in other cities where there is a high population of blacks? I know that Catholic schools in the inner city here have a higher population of black students, because the public schools are not good. They get a much better education in a much safer environment by going to a private school. And the fact is that the majority of these students are not Catholic.
In another neighboring city there is a high Muslim population, and the Catholic schools there have a high number of non-Catholic students for the same reason as in the inner city.
Anyone can attend Catholic school. You do not have to be Catholic. However, non-Catholic students in Catholic schools are required to attend school Masses, religion classes, and other religious events during school time. They are not required to convert and cannot receive the Sacraments.

First of all, you do not have to be Catholic to attend a Catholic school. Second, many black people I know are Catholic. So that may explain the two schools that have a high black populations.
Also, the public schools in the area may not be very good. Black parents may view the Catholic Schools as a good alternative to the public school system.

"Aren't most black people christian though" - If I did not know better I would assume you were implying that Catholics are not Christian, at which point I would ask you to read history and also get to know Catholicism before labeling it non Christian...but I am sure that is not what you meant.
Anyway, the answer is no....you do not have to be Catholic to go to a Catholic school. Catholics are not allowed to turn anyone away, be it schools, churches, hospitals, etc.... although obviously, one should not attend if they are anti-Christian as there are crucifixes on walls, prayers being said and the study of God and the bible enforced.
Here are a few quotes and links from Catholic School Boards;
-TCDSB secondary schools are open to all students residing in the City of Toronto.

I am catholic and my kids go to a catholic school. The biggest religion now in Africa is catholicism and there are now many black priests around in this country. Anyone who worships our God and Jesus are considered Christian whether they are Roman Catholic, Church of England, etc. My children's school take in non catholic children, although there are certain sacrements they are not allowed to participate in. If many people had their way there would be no catholic schools at all. There are many people who call it seperatism. When the Irish came to the Uk from Ireland - the British didnt want their children educated with the Irish kids so thats why the Roman Catholic church started their own schools.

I'm from India.
60 percent of the best educational institutions in the country are run by the Catholic church and by lay catholics.
Catholics themselves are hardly 8 percent of the population.
Also, there are over fifteen hundred catholic run schools in the poorest places in india .
In none of these areas is it mandatory that anybody even be a Christian for admission or schooling.
In certain areas, hostels are only open to catholics or christians because of the evident problems concerning the choice of food. This is in deference to the religious sentiments of Hindus and Muslims .
Christians are believed to provide the best education, be it English medium or Vernacular by the middle class in india.

Most Black Catholics are in Africa.
However there are about 3 million in the United States.
