I use lemon Joy dish soap to bathe my dog and this usually kills any flees she has on her. Then I spray Adams brand flee spray on her after she is bathed and I use Frontline products on my dog and around the house and yard. If you do not exterminate the flees from your house and yard, don't expect any of the above products to keep the flees from getting on your dog. The combination of Adams spray and frontline for my dog seem to help for a few weeks. Then I give her another bath and spay her again with Adams spray if she starts scratching. Flees are hard to control. Take a proactive approach.

The range of different answers on here indicates that you should ask your vet!
There's some misunderstanding about different products here - for one thing, Program only sterilises fleas, it doesn't kill them. It's a preventative treatment, no good if fleas are already present.
Frontline is indeed the best product, as once you have used it on you animal, and sprayed your environment (and you will need to do both) you can use Frontline Plus every 6 weeks, which treats both the animal and the environment.
Go to your vets for some proper treatment and advice, and don't bother with useless rubbish from petshops.
Spot-ons do not cause skin cancer - well, spot-ons from petshops might I suppose, some of them are really dangerous. Frontline is non-systemic, and it is safe.

I use Frontline flea and tick solution. Follow instructions carefully. There are other brands that do the same thing. You can also get a flea and tick collar but I have found the Frontline works best.
I also use Heart guard for Heart Worms.

Try this site. Lots of good sugestions
http://www.caninecrib.com/dog/articles/flea-control.asp
Also you can go to the top of this page and in the green area there is a box that says "Search for questions", put flea control or something to that effect in. This is one question that has been answered many times recently on this forum.
Basicly, wash the dog, for severe infestations give Capstar, wait 3 days then put on frontline, and treat the environment. (Laundry, vacuum, flea bomb, spray the yard)

Put some garlic in a can of dog food. Do this at least once a week. What happens is the garlic will be in their skin and the fleas won't bite him. Also, I have heard from my mom to spread Gain laundry soap on your lawn to keep fleas away. good luck!

the best product is Frontline. I always use it. One application controls fleas for 3 months... and ticks for one month. However, there is a new product out there that is suppose to be as good, but a bit cheaper... called TRIFORCE. i have supplied you the best place and cheapest place I know to purchase it. Good Luck

Give him anti-flea prevention such as programme, or combination products to prevent heartworm, hookworm, whipworm, tape worm AND fleas, such as Revolution, Sentinel etc
In order to kill adult fleas ON the dog, give one tablet of Capstan.
