Of course because they both believe in similar myths....the Christians believe in a superior being between themselves and a god and the atheists believe that they believe in nothing which is absolutely as impossible as believing the myth.

There seems to be a widespread assumption throughout much of the Western intellectual community that belief in God is based on all kinds of irrational immature needs and wishes, but atheism or skepticism is derived from a rational, no- nonsense appraisal of the way things really are.
Many atheists imagine that religion is based on ignorance. The biblical worldview integrates all parts of life under God and allows us to live with integrity. The atheist's worldview and the biblical worldview contradict each other and they can't both be true, only the biblical worldview gives us a complete and true picture of the world as it really is.
Logical reasoning of certain questions, cry out for explanation...
Where did I come from?
Why is the world such a mess?
Is there a solution?
What is my purpose?
Only Biblical Christianity answers these questions to anyone's logical explanation. Atheist's logic breaks down every time.

I'm an atheist, and even an activist atheist. But I really have only two real complaints against religion:
1) The excesses of organized conservative/fundamentalist religion
2) The fact that most moderate and liberal religious people implicitly defend religions conservatives with their view that "as long as they believe in God, that's the thing that counts".
If you think we are "free to to whatever we want" then you don't believe the BIble. That's a good start. However, it sounds like you may also be denying your humanity if you include doing harm to others in "whatever we want".

For all those who dont believe in god...I bet you'll want to when your rotting in complete misery in Hell. The "facts" are in the BIBLE. Read it sometime. Written by man, Created by God.
As far as being "free to do whatever we want" you will only be able to do that in America. Not sure if you remember, but, we are the only free country in the world. I am sure our forefathers would be so proud that they fought and died for this coutry, for you to say on the internet that God made YOU to do whatever you want. Good luck....

Atheists and Christians can both hold their convictions just as strongly. The weakest link in the pro-god view ( too many holes in christianity to innumerate here), is that since we don't understand the time, space continuum and what is eternity- the creation of some super being 'to which the rules of time and space don't apply' is simply a cop out. You do nothing by saying "we don't understand universal laws of creation , etc. so we imagine a being that DOESN'T need to be created, ISN'T subject to time or space- convenient but not compelling.
The weak link in the atheists argument is causation and design- living things have UTILITY of design, the hand to grasp , the lung to breathe, reproduction etc. shows DELIBERATE INTENT IN DESIGN.
For me, the fact we are DESIGNED beats the strength of argument that conceiving of a being that the rules dont apply doesn't bring us any closer to real answers. Maybe god is dead..............

No, all Christians are stupid but all stupid people are Christians. Correlation? Yes.
Study after study show that the more ignorant a person is the more likely they are to believe in a god.

No. I'm an atheist, and I would say that I am open to other people's opinions, but don't go spouting your religious beliefs to me. I don't have to believe, and I shouldn't be criticised for not doing. It works both ways.
For Bruce B, how is believing in nothing impossible? There is no God. I prefer science and fact.

No. Atheists, in general, employ critical thinking. Theists, in general, christian or otherwise, don't.
I have read the entire christian bible, front to back, both "testaments." I wonder how many christians have.

Not true, Bruce. Atheists believe in all sorts of things, such as the scientific method. We simply do not believe in any gods.

Rorya, you provided no evidence for your claim. Perhaps a few links to scientific journals?

No because I accept your beliefs and ideas. While most christians will tell you you're going to hell and you need to convert. I NEVER try to convert people. But if my beliefs are challenged and marked as dumb I WILL fight back. I will not sit around and let someone tell me I'm going to "hell" when the only reason they are saying that is because I'm different.

Only the ones who think they are better than the other because they believe or don't believe.
I believe in God, but I don't believe in shoving it down people's throats. The more we force it, the more reluctant people will be.
Just use your life as your testimony to your faith or lack of.
