There aren't any true contradictions in the Bible. People want to read one scripture verse and say it contradicts another but if they would read the whole chapter, or the few before and after that one verse they would find that it isn't contradictory at all. As far as the internet links "proving" contradictions, it's just people trying to find fault with God's word to make themselves feel better about what their doing and put others down for believing. There are some great stories there and some great things to be learned of people were only willing.

You are talking about 60 books written over 3000 years by at least 40 authors and we are only just getting to the point where really accurate translation is possible. Some ancient languages are sparse and a word can mean several different things. Also numbers are sometimes meant to be taken literally and sometimes not. Of course there are contradictions, because it is not a put up job. That's why careful study under a skilled teacher and various reference books are required to understand it. Otherwise it appears baffling and unreliable. Except of course for the really important bit. New Testament advice on how to live your life.

There are none. People claim to find them but if they really looked hard enough they would see they are not.
Most have never actually read the bible. They are just simply copying what others say. Many quote web sites such as above but have never actually investigated whether there is any truth in it.

if you really want to find out if it is a good book or not then read it. The 'stories' which most are backed by historical evidence, usually have a moral so they are there for some reason. The bible is not a modern book either. No-one can ever recall a time when it didn't exist and scrolls containing the bible have been found that show how old it is. So why would a book, that is hundreds if not thousands of years old, still survive today and have so many good points that people live their lives by. (I am sure even you agree with the thou shall not murder/steal bit) Could it have divine backing to make sure it survives?

I don't believe there are any contradictions in the Bible, only scriptures read out of context. It's a good excuse if you're looking for a reason not to believe it though. You can find plenty of websites that will explain the apparant contradictions.

The Bible is a collection of myths just like any other of the World scriptures.
It is a source of inspiration to the followers of that particular faith.
Believers will see no inconsistency in any of their holy books.
Genesis is allegory.
The earth wasn't created in seven days. But elsewhere in the Bible you have an explanation, 'a thousand years is like one day with God, and a thousand years like one day'.
In the Hindu scriptures, the entire existence as we know it came through the mythological churning of the ocean.
And that's very consistent with the theory of the Big bang!

I think its an interesting book that may be based loosely on some facts which have been twisted out of proportion through time and translation.
If you are interested in contradictions from the bible, this is an interesting site to have a look at.

There are so many contradictions in the bible, where can one realy start. When you have preachers and cristians crying out about how wrong incest is, and yet the bible says everyone came from one man and one woman, then doesn't that mean brothers and sisters pro-created the first society. There is a whole section in the bible about this person begot that person, and so on, which means they where committing incest. In my opinion the bible is more like combined works of fiction put together to give people who realy had nothing, something to believe in, something to work for in life.

Bible says that the natural man (those unsaved) cannot receive the spirit of God for they are follishness unto him.....
1 Cor 2:14. You have to be spiritually discerned to understand the bible.

Just reading the bible as a normal book will give just a "normal" reaction to it.

Early Genesis contradicts itself if taken literally. So one must suppose that whoever wrote it is a Class 1 chump, or that it is intended to be understood as allegory.

When I see an apparent contradiction, I study until I understand where I was wrong.
