Is it necessary to have 20-20 vision to become a pilot or does a small number do?

Without a waiver it has to be correctable to 20-20. If you can demonstrate that you can safely pilot a plane with worse vision it's not hard to get a waiver. I got a CDA many years ago with 20-50 vision in one eye and 20-70 in the other and basically no depth perception. It wasn't hard at all -- some pattern work and a few touch and go's and I was all set.

Most airlines will tell you that you need 20-20 or corrected to 20-20 vission. If your looking for just private planes then the restrictions are less strict.

you dont need 20/20 to fly private or commercially, this is not something i made up, you could find all the details you will need in annex 1 from the FAA or ICAO rules and regulations, all details about medical fitness could be found and phone numbers for examiners to check yourself and know the real deal
