My cousin told me yesterday that her friend, who is Hindu, has a living Hindu goddess - a real woman - visiting her home. My cousin was going to meet this goddess to be given a blessing. I do not know much about Hinduism and was interested in more info on living gods but can not find anything. Can anyone point me to a good source? Or provide information? Thanks!:)

To save everyone time I did look up in Wikipedia, but they do not mention anything about living, human gods. Thanks

According to my colleagues... there are a lot of people who swindle folks in India by claiming "miracles" that few have seen or that have been shown to be tricks. For example, the guy (Sathya Sai Baba) someone mentioned above apparently had a habit of conjuring thin gold chains from air which awed the public. Only, once a video grab in slow motion showed someone throwing the chain to the guy.

Their "blessings" might feel good, but they are nothing more than placebo. And always ask yourself this: if these were really living god/godess, why would they ask for money or fame or travels or more followers? Shouldn't they be a little more secure in their power? Tell your cousin to have fun without upsetting anyone in her friend's family, but take the "miracles" with a grain of salt.

There are many living saints, sadhus, and yogis living in the world today. In a sense each of us has the divine spark within. Some few the spark has become radiant like the Sun, and these individuals have the divine enveloping them and flowing through them.

hinduism is a beautiful and peaceful religion..much like Buddhism, except for a few fundamental differences such as Buddhism being atheistic.etc....both are based on "ahinsa":not harming living creatures .hope this helps!
