He got a fat Toyota paycheck. He wasnt going to make that kind of money anywhere else. If he is all about the money then no it wasnt a bad choice. His best years are behind him so I guess he could retire, take a big check and run horrible (MWR), take a smaller check and run decent (similar to Bobby Labonte).
I hate to lose and I wouldnt be happy losing every week. I would have followed the Labonte route.

Its a shame Jarrett left Yates to go with Toyota and waltrip because the team as a whole isn't that good maybe if waltrip would step away and go to a 2 car team he might be more successful he has too much on his plate with all the TV responsibilities and sponsors and trying to qualify every week. Jarrett will probably make 10 more races this year but hi will not get into top 35 in owners points.

No not really, like the others said he is getting paid and really hasnt been competitive in any car for the last couple years. The only real reason it seemed for him to come to Toyota was use is provisional which he already had used up. I think he is retiring in the very near future and already has a job with ESPN. Also I am sure he is still making money even though he just has to show up at the track on Fridays and "try" to make the show. Not a bad life actually.

Not really,DJ has been racing a long time and knew the risks going in.He knew the cars and the team would be less than first rate.....based on his performance the last few yrs he was a less than first rate driver. He either had to take this shot or face unemployment when his Yates deal was up.

It is possible he made a mistake but in a year or two Toyota might make the changes necessary to be contending cars. I don't particularly car for Toyota's racing in NASCAR but they are there..well sort of.
At least he and Mikey made a great commercial with Sammy Hagar...Drive a little faster Mikey!

No, he has been driving like D.Waltrip did in the latter stage of his career. At the rear of the field with no interest in finishing highly placed or winning unless he has a perfect car (which no one ever has ). The question should be, Did UPS make a mistake by going with him ? I don't remember seeing one UPS commercial in Sundays race.

i became into no longer moaning over the effect in 2003 and that i'm honestly no longer after this race!! Matt and Kevin are my 2 favorites. yet whether it became into Jr. and Johnson interior the astounding 2, i might grip because of the fact all of them had the ingredients to be certain the climate and it form of feels to me the DeWalt team and Shell team planned for it somewhat extra helpful then the different communities by way of pushing themselves to the front for the win or 2d place interior the form of rain. As a collection chief, it fairly is one extra project which you will desire to pay interest to earlier the race. what form of climate is envisioned all day? If rain, then whilst is it envisioned to reach on the song and then attempt to push your driving force to the front earlier it arrives. thank you to pass Kenseth and Harvick!!!!

Short term: it might be considered a mistake.
Long term: Toyota will have their act together and all toyota teams will perform better next season.

Probably, but the way I see it everybody has a cost. Nobody thought M. Martin would drive a Chevy, but he is. Who is next to make a change? Jeff Gordon?
