Blesss you boobylips but Christianity is not buildings I've heard that claim before and the answer sounds good at first but why do they really phrase it like this? because they are attempting to misled others into believing the Catholic Church is only buildings without spiritual content. Lets reverse this shall we, Christianity is also buildings and architecture and sacred art because they are all an expression of our love for God. The real reason these are denied by those who don't have them is simply because they don't have a history. These buildings are a historical record an archelogy of where the true Church can be found. There are no non-Catholic Christian structures or records or art or even bibles prior to the 16th century. During early Christianity you find the regular usage of visual artwork to tell the gospel story. Not everyone could read and not everyone could afford to have a bible copied for their private use the buildings themselves were the gospel story.

It makes no sense does it. Reasonable people cannot refute that the Catholic Church is the Church which was started by Christ even from their limited Sola Scriptura perspective. Also, those that claim that the Church fell into apostasy shortly after the death of he apostles have no Scriptural grounds for their claim. In fact, making such a claim denies the promises made by Christ to His Church.

It is also interesting to note that the Churches in apostolic succession, denoting they are the continuing Church, are the only Churches that have the corporeal Christ in their worship as most Protestants have forbidden the corporeal Christ from their worship as per the teaching of men , specifically the sixteenth century heretic Ulrich Zwingli. How can a Church be more Christ centered than focusing on the corporeal Christ in every worship and in contrast be any less Christ centered than forbidding the corporeal Christ from their worship as does most Protestants.

In Christ,
Fr. Joseph

*Is Catholic*

(Don't most Protestants have some sort of problem with the Epistle to the Hebrews in the first place?)

I think it depends on the type of protestant that you talk to. Most modern Protestants would deny that Christ founded a Church (we have a hard enough time getting that across to Catholics!). That is especially true for those of the dispensationalist stripe who taught that Christ preached the kingdom but we got the church because we didn't accept the kingdom. Many other protestants think the church is only a sort of feel good spiritual bond.

So I would say that there is a fundamental problem at understanding
*soteriology
*justification
*the Mystical Body of Christ
*The Bride of Christ
*ecclesiology

Most protestants have a good understanding of how OT Israel is the Elect of God to the exclusion of all others and that is really helpful at showing how the Church is the Elect of God to the exclusion of all others and how the Church takes what is in Israel fulfilles it an moves it to a higher spiritual level.

The refusal is based on past generations of papal declarations and poor ecumenical communication between the different Christian faiths. With the writings of Pope John Paul II and as of Pope John XXIII with the second Vatican Council, the dialogue between serious worshippers and serious leaders of the churches has been open. This has caused many changes in Roman Catholicism which our Protestant breatheran are unaware of since they haven't bothered reading them.
To include a very important part of the council declaring that everyone has the right to worship God the Creator as he/she sees fit, for we are not one to answer which is right or wrong, only the most just Judge.
You have a wonderful question and I applaude it, but those who desire to harm the relationship among all Christians are just looking to do that, and they will answer from their minds and hearts, not their soul.
Openess is a gift and we should accept everyone. God bless and again great question.

Jesus did NOT start any denomination...that is of man, not God. They were first called Christians at Antioch...

Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

A Christian is a follower of Christ, a born again believer in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The "Church" is the body of Christ. It is NOT a building, nor an organization.

Romans 12:5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

I hope this helps.

Ephesians 1:22-23 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

The "Church" is NOT a denomination. It is the BODY of Christ, that is the Church.

Your argument, is not with me, but with the scripture.

Again...to answer your second comment...

1.) If the Catholic Church was founded by Peter...and Peter was the supposed first pope of the Catholic Church...why was Peter married??? Aren't popes supposed to take a vow of celibacy? First "oops".
Matthew 8v14 And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.
2.) Let's look at the Ethiopic Bible...one of the oldest known translations of the bible...and it is NOT catholic. Second "oops".
3.) Now, indulgences...can you show me scripture for this? As far as the "infallible" pope...why was this practice discontinued, if the popes are indeed infallible, why the sudden change? Third "oops".
4.) Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The "Catholics" interpret this as Peter being the rock the church is built on. This is not correct; the "Rock" is Peters confession.
Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
This is the "Rock" the Church is built on.

The TRUE Rock, is not Peter, it is Jesus.
1 Corinthians 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
Fourth "oops".

Should I continue?

Catholic Doctrine vs. Bible Doctrine. Many times the two do not match.

I believe the Bible, the Word of God!

In Matthew 16:18, Jesus says,

" And I say to thee: That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church. And the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it."

Take heart, fellow Catholics, Hell has come, and continues to come, in many different guises and we are still here!

Praise our Lord Jesus!

The Catholic Church puts more emphasis on Mary instead of Jesus... I observed a Mass one time, and it was all about "Mary, the Mother of God" and "Hail, Mary, full of Grace," etc... I didn't hear much mention of God OR Jesus for that matter at all.

>>Edit<<

Now, there is no reference to Peter being the Pope. As a matter of fact, if you look at the evidence given in the Bible, Peter ought to be the LEAST likely candidate for being Pope... just thought I'd throw that in there.

I am afraid that many do not know their own history. I was raised Baptist and we were never taught. We were taught that Catholics were not Christians and were going to hell. So glad I found my way home.

The Christ-Cenetered Catholics do not follow any of Christ's or HIS Apostle's written Instructions in the BIBLE. Each new Pope has to comeup with something new as if GOD has changed HIS MIND again and again. GOD has two testaments and ONLY TWO! HE does not need anyone else to attempt to tell us what to do. We can cvertainly read, study, and obey what was written in HIS HOLY WORD as we are commanded to do. Have a wonderful week. Reading HIS WORD will improve your week too.
