How long after a cat eats a tapeworm carring flea will you see the tapeworm (rice)

I was wondering because Ive treated her with with a flea bath and frontline and cleaned the house and gotten rid of all the carpet in the house.

She has been treated every month for about 5-6 months and ive seen no fleas. (she's white so it's extra easy to see them)

But today ive seen tapeworms popping out her butt. Is it possible she's just been harbering tapeworms for all this time and just now started to pop them out?

I know to take her to a vet. Im just looking for some information to campare with what they will tell me.

Thanks

Simply defleaing a cat will not work. I believe it will help prevent the return of tapeworms once you've gotten rid of them. My vet requested a stool sample, and my cat actually had roundworms - not tapeworms as I had previously thought.
The most popular dewormer - Drontal - should get rid of 4 major types of worms.
O, and I fed my cat the Drontal pill by wrapping it in a deli slice, you may want to try something similar. Pill pockets, available at pet stores, should work just as well.

Treating for fleas does not guarantee absence of tapeworms, it's just a good idea. Tapeworms can be contracted from other sources. Also, 5-6 months is a bit of a sparse flea treatment regime - it only takes one flea to contract worms after all, entirely possible there could've been some without you noticing.

Also, there's no need for a flea bath if you're treating with Frontline monthly, it's a complete treatment. Certain baths may also reduce the efficacy of the Frontline. I would suggest monthly treatment with Frontline, actually spraying your house with a flea spray and then using Frontline Plus every 6 weeks as it actually treats the animal and the environment. This regime will get you as flea-free as it's possible to be.

To actually answer you question (!) the appearance of tapeworm segments (what you see coming out of her butt) from ingestion varies on the animal's digestive system as well as the worms themselves. There are two different common species of tapeworm, and they have different lifecycles. What you see coming out the animal are actually the segments the worms shed as part of their reproductive cycle, so once you see these the worm has been ingested, hatched and grown to sexual maturity which can take up to six weeks. Also are you sure these are tapeworm segments - they look like white rice grains.

Since your cat is prone to worms I would use a worming tablet from your vets 3 x monthly to prevent them. Or, you could use Revolution spot-on from your vets, which treats tapeworms, fleas and ear mites - but you would still have to spray your house then.

Time for a visit to the vet with a stool pattern to be sure the type of malicious program! there is largely one thank you to get a tape malicious program and that's to consume a FLEA, that has eaten a tapeworm egg. the only way for a animal, or human to get tapeworms is to ingest a flea that has ingested a tapeworm egg. there is no incorrect way. The flea ingesting the egg activates the egg... which then hatches on your cat's gut after the cat ingests the flea. you would be able to desire to consume the host (flea)... no longer the egg. there is no incorrect thank you to get tapeworms. So ensure you cope with all your animals for fleas besides. Tapeworms whether, are no longer frequently vomited. Roundworms are frequently vonited however! you will choose a wormer out of your vet to kill the tapeworms. i opt to propose Drontal. do no longer use OTC wormers. they are not secure and could kill your cat. to no longer point out they do no longer paintings ok. Wormer is a pesticide so don’t be low-fee whilst paying for it. Do what's secure and purchase out of your vet.

the worms that look like rice are not tape worms.
to know if your cat has a tape worm youll have to have a stool sample tested at the vet.
If youve seen worm on her you need to treat her asap.
Most times you never see tape worms till they come out dead.

According to them it could be caused by finding or eating a rodent. It doesn't really go into the time line though.
