Why can i not claim bank charges over the six year period ,?

Question

TSB hammered me for years with bank charges and lack of care .

When i complained they ignored me and told me to manage my account better this forced me to change banks.
Now i believe this may have been ilegal ????

Is it possible to reclaim these charges even though i am over the six year period .

It has nothing to do with the banks being computerised or not. That's total rot.

The statute of limitations means that legally you can only go back 6 years.

A statute of limitations is a statute in a common law legal system that sets forth the maximum period of time, after certain events, that legal proceedings based on those events may be initiated and the statute of limitations in the UK is 6 years

You can claim back bank charges over the last 6 years. Log onto moneysavingexpert.com. Martin Lewis takes you through it and you can download the sample letters. Two people at work are going through this process right now. Dont let the bank win and stay the course but you should be prepared to go to court.

You can only reclaim for the last six years, the reason for this is, six years ago banks went all computerised and the cost for dealing with administration was virtually nothing and this is what you are claiming back.
