i have a 5 speaker set home theater system and i don't have a remote for my sub woofer. Does it take a lot of electricity to just leave it on when there is no sound?

Probably not a lot of electricity, and it may have an auto off feature.

I don't think it shortens the life - it may actually lengthen the life because with some equipment, the worst stress comes from switching it off and on. My recording engineer friend says they never turn off their equipment, and they feel that this is the way to keep it from needing repairs...

Hi.If the amp in your sub is left on it would only use as much electricity as a radio that is on from the ac supply.Or your TV going all day .Some amps are made to be left on all the time so they are always warmed up to perform better .At least that's what happens "Down Under" where i live when i use my equipment.
Cheers.

oftentimes your subjects are because of the fact the two your floor /or ability are undesirable connections, The cables are not super sufficient, or the fuse is to small. because of the fact that could be a 25 amp fuse i visit anticipate that could be a blade form fuse and propose which you sparkling your terminals on the battery and floor and maximum heavily bypass purchase a 25 amp blade form circuit breaker at your community vehicle areas save this way if it blows on you returned turn your equipment down and the fuse will immediately reset! Cheers!

Depends. Many subwoofers turn themselves off after a period of time with no signal. Mine does. Check your manual.
