In my belief, we are created to worship Allah (SWT). Certain rules are put in place to protect mankind from him/herself. Just look at the effects of certain activities in society.

If you are religious, you also can't get drunk, beat up your wife or children, do drugs, be promiscous, steal, lie or kill.
You're missing the point of religion if you concentrate only on those things, like having an abortion. Wouldn't it be better if there was no need to have an abortion? Religion could set you free form that agonising option. Pre-maritical sex? Many people feel that this is the correct choice.
I don't think the reasons why you left your church are worth taking into account. The only reason should be that you didn't believe in it.

It's true that we're limited to what we can and can't do, but most of the things that we can't do can be...well...not beneficial. Sex before marriage leads to STD's and unwanted pregnancies. Many complications can arise out of having an abortion, including the guilt that goes with it. Getting drunk can cause all kinds of problems as well; I had an uncle who died from liver failure as a result of his drinking. So the things that Christians aren't supposed to do is for a reason: They're not healthy.

As for what Christians ARE supposed to do, God demands no more of us than what we're willing to give. As a Christian, I WANT the fellowship of church. I WANT to spend time talking to God (praying). I WANT to read the Bible, because it helps me and encourages me. But God doesn't force me to do these things, nor does He force me to not sin. I still sin sometimes, I'm not perfect.

I think you have the wrong idea. It took me a long time to get where I am now, and God stepped back and let me figure it out. He would do the same for you.

It sounds to me like you're not so much of an atheist as you are non-religious. Atheists generally don't believe in God because it hasn't been proven to them that He exists. There is a difference. I think deep down you KNOW there's a God, but you think it would require too much to discover who and what He really is, and you believe that you would have to give up who you are.

It's not true. Everyone says that the only changes in me since I became a Christian seven months ago have been GOOD changes. I'm more patient, I'm kinder, and I'm more generous. I don't know how true this is, I only repeat what I've been told.

I used to drink and swear like a sailor. I just don't have the desire to do those things anymore. I used to be overcome with lust, though I didn't physically commit adultery. I simply don't have that urge anymore. But I haven't been FORCED to be this way.

I hope this gives you something to think about.

You don't like being told what to do? Yet you are told everyday as are all people. "Free will" does not exist except in the mind of fools. Every thing that you do everyday is governed by your environment just like everyone Else's is.

And your statement about sex is your opinion, not a fact. Just who are you to decide what "everyone" does or doesn't do.

And so, some women can't or won't murder their unborn baby, and according to you that is a bad thing !!!!! Wonderful set of morals you have.
