It has come to my attention that, at least, one grocery store plays a little game involving the question title. It really is simple in explanation. The clock up front is three minutes faster than the clock you punch your timecard on. The rules state that you are not allowed to punch in more than four minutes early for your shift. As a side note, there is only one punch-clock and it takes, supposedly, about a minute to walk from the front to it. They never seem to change this time difference no matter how many employees bring this to their attention. Is there a name for this tactic/game?

any place that I have ever work at, the timeclock and regular time did not match. I think that they do that so you will have to stay later than the advertised closing time, even if it is only 5 minutes.

The punch clock is within the coat room, make a left at Entertainment & Music then move proper by means of Zoology with out even watching and it is the first door after the lawsuits division. Bring a goat for the troll.

Set your watch by the timeclock time so you are following the rules and have documented proof- your actual time cards are recorded.
