does this actually work by eating just cereal for 2 meals a day. I want to give it a go but with other, healthier cereals like weetabix and bran flakes. Also does this take into account snacking on fruit and veg through the day coz i dont know how I could get by without my fruit!!!

Fruit is a great snack. The calories (in fat) happen with the fruit cocktail stuff with the syrups of sorts. Good eating habits and exercise is living right then we never have to worry about a jean size!....cereal is what it is .....cereal. Rarely does it meet the basic requirements. Check the Canada food guide....A good diet is a balanced one!.......good luck!

After researching the Special K diet, I found this: • Eat a serving of Kellogg's® Special K®, Special K® Red Berries, Special K® Vanilla Almond, Special K® Fruit & Yogurt or Special K® Low Carb Lifestyle Protein Plus cereal with 2/3 cup skim milk and fruit for two meals a day. • Eat your third meal as you normally do. • For snacks, choose from fresh fruits and vegetables or a Special K® Bar. • Consume beverages as you normally do. Is that the Special K diet? Cause if so, I'm going to rename it to the "Special" K diet. Notice the quotation marks. That's because it is a diet for MORONS who can't control their calorie intake any other way than by substituting entire meals! Yeah it'll work. By the second bowl you've only consumed maybe 400 calories. A little more if you've had fruit. Then you can pig the hell out on whatever meal at the end of the day and still not touch 2000 calories unless you're a true glutton.. Firstly, special K has 110 calories per serving. That's very few calories, I'll admit. But let's face it, 50 calories isn't going to make a hell of a lot of difference, so buy any cereal under 200 calories per serving you want. I reccommend Total Raisin Bran. It's like taking a multivitamin. Secondly, consuming beverages as you normally do? Eat your third meal as normal? How the fsck is that supposed to encourage good eating habits?! Your "beverages" are most likely sodas. Cut those out ENTIRELY. A single extra 20 oz soda per day will give you an entire pound in a week. Drink filtered water. You can buy a faucet filter at your local superstore or hardware store for around $30 and they last for months. Not to mention it tastes better than the bottled crap. Just adhere to these basic rules: 1. Avoid sugar. Sugar is very quickly digested, and will instantly turn to fat unless you're exercising AS YOU EAT. 2. Eat 500 calories less than you burn per day, and you will lose 1 lb a week. Without exercise, a person burns a little under 2000 calories a day. 3. Stay above 1200 calories per day. Any lower and your metabolism will slow down and you will gain weight. Imagine a bear fattening up for the winter. That's what happens. 4. Exercise. Seriously, do it. It's good for you and it feels good once you get good at it. It's a good thing. Also I linked to an article on the special K diet itself. There. That's all you get.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

All fad diets are a waste of time as you will regain once you stop. Stick with the fruit, vegetables and low fat unprocessed foods and you will drop a jean size and keep it off!
