I got to see this guy for a month when he was on leave. Spent everyday together and had THE BEST time. He leaves and I barely hear from him. Here's the thing, he hardly talks to his mom too. His mom told me things that he's said, like, "She's nothing that I've ever met before, I can be myself when I'm with her and it feels good." When he was here, it was like I was the gf w/o the commitment. His mom wants me to wait for him. He comes home for a little bit in Dec. b4 he's deployed to Iraq again. She thinks that he still likes me alot. His mother and I are close too! She calls me "daughter" and calls to check on me. I'm scared. I'm afraid that when he comes back, the same thing is gonna happen like they did last time and I get attached. I can't be a temporary girlfriend. But, I don't want to give up either. Why would he tell his mom these things if he didn't like me? Am I getting the run around? Or is he "married to the military?" Is he just not interested? I don't understand.. Thanks!

Why not just ask him yourself the magical questions, best way to find out really. Good luck ^-^

It all depends. He could just be being a man. I know plenty of Marines who have an "at home gf" and then once they are back at base they are single again. But then I know some that stay true to the girl back at home. You need to seriously ask him or you may be waiting forever. He may not be ready for something serious or he may think you are not. To be in a long distance relationship with a Marine you are not married to is very hard because you are far apart and it's not like he has a lot of freedom to go see you every chance he has. He may also be trying to save you from the deployments and all that. I say just be open upfront and talk to him. Let him know your feelings.

It sounds like there is a definite connection here... but yes, he is in the military, so he wont be around all the time. Its probably hard to get in contact with you from wherever he is, so don't worry about him just ignoring you. Did you exchange details, like phone numbers. If not, that could be another reason. I don't think you should stop dating, you are not in a committed relationship yet! Don't stop looking for someone else, but when your marine does come back.... defiantly get together to see where things are at. You don't want to sit around waiting for him to find that he's not interested!

You need to have this conversation with him. The guys in Iraq have email, they can call home, and they receive mail!!!

Ask him what his story is. Tell him that you care for him, but if you are going to wait for him, he will need to contact you more often. Tell him that you get lonely too! If he can't do something as simple as that for you, then just think what else he can't do for you if you continue in the relationship.

Marines are busy--especially now that we are in a war--he can't be dreaming about you with bullets flying all over---then you will only have a folded flag to hold. wait till he is done and out--just be supportive and then see what happens. Meanwhile--get on with your life.....if it is meant to be--it will be. If it is nothing now---face the facts and get going. Good luck to him--thank him for his service to the US

Talk to him and ask him. Tell him that these are your concerns and ask him how he feels about your relationship. We can't answer your question.....only he can.
