I want to get my lip pierced maybe even snake bites but idk yet. I was just wondering if you get a small gauge, will the scar be real noticable...or will it not even scar or what? also if you have any other info on lip piercings I wanna know!

I had two about 8 years ago. They were a small gauge. You can still see the scars. And they are noticable when I point them out to people. Otherwise they think they are just freckles or something. Just be careful and watch your gums and teeth. Your piercing could rub away at your gums or wear off your teeth enamel if it's always rubbing.

If you're worried about scar tissue after removing a piercing, massage emu oil, jojoba oil or vitamin E oil into it, it helps to break down the scar tissue.

Any reputable piercer won't pierce a lip below 16ga (1.2mm).
Being an oral piercing, aftercare is VERY important. Follow it to the letter, and that includes cleaning it after EVERY meal, no kissing or oral sex for 6-8 weeks (or however long the piercer recommends).
If wearing a stud as opposed to a ring, opt for Bioplast jewellery - the stem and back of the stud are flexible and soft, and can help reduce gum recession in labret and lip piercings.

Hope that helps.

My husband had his lip pierced on the bottom, center for a few years. It looked cool, but he has a big scar that is noticable, now. It also wrecked his gums in front of one of his teeth, and that cant be fixed- thats pretty noticable when he smiles. If I were you, I'd get something pierced that is not as noticable.

depending on how long you've had the ring in your lip that will determine if your hole will close and how long it will take. fresh piercings close more rapidly and sometimes leaves a scar depending on how it was pierced. make sure you take really good care of it and not let it get infected or else the scar will be the last thing you'd be worrying about. yes the scar is noticable
no matter what sized gauge

um basically they tell u all the info when you go in
but no kissing or oral sex for a month
clean it twice a day
when you wake up and go to bed

when u first get it is is swollen for like 3 to 5 days

then this begins to go down..

i would make certain that the two scars are worth it to you
i can easily hide mine with some concealer
but they do show

it is nothing major to freak out over though

good luck

i had friends who`ve gotten the snakebites & later took them out...the scar is barely noticable after a while...i have a lip piercing myself, it didn`t hurt at all when i had it done & i was very lucky, as i didn`t have any swelling or anything...basically, i just did all the normal things i did before immediately after i had it done...so, no problems!!! it`s definitely worth it to get it done...i luv mine!!!

personally I am tatted and covered in piercings ~ but, I think any one on the side of the lip looks like a cold sore. . . think about it ~ a piercing in the middle like this one. . . http://www.fashiongates.com/img/upload/items/lip-piercing-bg-a571e5ad-4df3-4026-9284-7b157be9a89f.jpg
