AA's are the physical size and not the charge element(internal battery power) of the battery

Alkaline batteries are the ones that have been around that we often think of as far as batteries that are sold everywhere

newer batteries(lithium) came out for high power usage like digital cameras and music players (MP3, MP4) in the AA package which cost usually twice as much as the alkaline ones, and they last about 3 times as long as alkaline.

Rechargeable batteries (NiMH, Nickel Metal Hydride) are my favorite for use with digital cameras, if your camera ises 2 AA's, buy 4: 2 to use and 2 to use if you need to charge the others. They last longer per charge than alkaline and they keep more batteries out of the landfill. The chargers are so small, you can travel with them easily.

Lithium batteries last like 10 years in storage, so put those in an emergency kit (they last longer than that, but that is their "guaranteed" full power rating)

xD cards are usually only used by Olympus and Fuji, so they don't have much of a market, they are very fast, and the casual user never really worries about the "secure" part of SD cards. You can find some here:

the 1GB card should be plenty for daily use, 2GB if you don't empty your pictures or go on a long trip

If you have a Circuit City nearby, they might have a clearance, but that is rare.

I guess it depends on how often you're using the batteries and the device you're using them in. Lithium batteries are rechargeable so I guess they can last a lifetime if used properly. I'd go with the lithium batteries for the camera. Just keep some aa batteries on hand for when you charge your lithium batteries.

XD cards can be used in Fujiflim and Olympus digital cameras. I think those are the only digital cameras that uses xd cards. I'd go with another flash mem device such as SecureDigital which has more uses and more compatibility with digital devices.

lithium batteries are long lasting and can sustain high draining devices such as a camera.Using lithium battery can decrease the recycle time of most cameras (also because it has a slightly higher voltage)..It can last, in some cases, up to 5 times that of alkaline batteries...

lithium definetly! but it all depends on brand. If it will take it, get Ni-MH rechargeables! thats the best fuel.
XD cards are the most durable card but probaly the least shared and isnt secure. SD and Memory Stick Secure have a read-only option about them and will be the successing technology. Sd especially. If you're after a camera, look at panasonic. They use Leica lenses! Awesome cameras!
