Yes they did. several times.
In the 20 century they sent weapons and "volunteers" during the war with (colonial) France, then assisted the NVA in the war with the Republic of VietNam, finally they invaded North Vietnam during the war with Cambodia
In past history - many, many wars. Most of Vietnam (the 3 component kingdoms which were coalesced into Zvietnam by the French) used to be a province of China, then managed to get free.

Stupid is merely a lack of intelligent reasoning like say going up to a group of Hells Angles and mouthing off to them or messing with their bikes. No intelligent person would do something so insanely stupid.
The word you are looking for is ignorant, which is merely a lack of knowledge, that is easily corrected by asking a question. And yes China did fight Vietnam at least South Vietnam as they were helping the communist Viet Cong.
The only stupid question is one which is not asked.
