Oil is good, but be carefull with WD40. After a short time it can attract dirt. The first thing that I would do is buy a bike cover. This will stop water from staying in contact with the frame.
OK forks. Forks tend to be chrome, or white metal. Autosol white should do the trick. But generally, as long as you keep the rubber covers over the top of the seals, it should be ok.
For the chain, re-lube every 40 - 50 miles of riding, unless you are doing lots of muddy XC work. Use babywhipes to clean the chain, or for real sticky stuff, use white spirite. Often, just running a rag over your chain at the end of a ride will help. But re-lube at the end.
Cables. You should be able to take cables off off the frame and run a oily rag over the metal.
I would do a general clean at the end of each ride, if muddy.
Make sure that your derailures are clean and perhaps put a drop of chain wax on them, the same with SPDs.
Luck

If you leave your bicycle outdoors, you deserve to walk!
Bicycles are not to be left outside, end of story. If you really want to take care of it, you'll find a place inside to keep it.
You should lube the chain with quality lube you bought at the bicycle shop when it needs it, not necessarily every ride. Take it back to the shop you bought it every month or so to get your free tune-ups and adjustments.
You DID buy a good bike at a real bike shop, didn't you? One with a warranty and a service contract? A warranty that is revoked if there are signs of abuse (like leaving it outside)?

There are a pair issues you're able to do to maintain your motorcycle and you chuffed after using in moist situations. Im going to presume you weren't using with fenders, notwithstanding in case you have been the sparkling and care innovations would be an identical. you will desire to rinse off the motorcycle after your moist using is finished for the day. Take your motorcycle and rinse off all the muck that has accumulated on the physique, brakes, and force-practice(chain, chainrings, front and rear derailuers). ensure you're rinsing and not blasting with extreme stress any bearing floor; backside bracket, front hub, rear hub, head set. thoroughly rinse force-practice and brakes, because those are areas of the motorcycle that are extra comfortable to construct up of debris. once you have rinse the motorcycle off, take it interior wipe down the chain with a rag(retaining the chain with the rag and returned peddling works nicely). Then practice some lubricant. If it the moist season the place you're at you utilize a lube that works stable in moist situations. if that's the dry season use a dry condtions lube. employing lube is so trouble-free as putting the top of the drip bottle on the chain and returned peddling. After that take a rag carry the chain repeatedly peddle one extra time. This step will do away with extra lube. in case you desire to practice some lubricant to the pivots of the derailuers and brake pivots(rim brake no longer disc) that's fantastic too. Doing this after each moist holiday would desire to shop your motorcycle working particularly comfortable. yet you will desire to do a radical degrease and re-lube of the force practice as quickly as in mutually as too. Your community motorcycle shop would desire to hold all the stuff that might actually assist you with that, like degreasers, lube, and any cleansing procedures. be sure you utilize lubricants that are made for biking. WD-40 isn't a lubricant(Water Displacement formula 40 is what it stands for), 3 in a million oil isn't a acceptable lubricant. those variety of lubricants will only muck issues up and your motorcycle mechanic will understand you have been employing chemical components that don't belong on a bike. i'm a bike mechanic, all of us understand while motorcycles are no longer being taken care of suitable. :-)

I'd keep it indoors. If it has to stay out, use motor oil on the moving parts and WD40 on the brake lines.
