Well all in all they have there advantages and disadvantages! It really depends on what you are looking for. The AK-47 you can not clean it in years, run it over with a vehicle, submerge it in mud, pull it out of the mud 2 days later, pick it up and it still fires!! Problem with it compared to the others is, its heavier by 3 to 4 lbs, is not a accurate, and doesn't have as much range. It does have a bigger more effective round though! =)
The M-16 and M-4 are one in the Same!! The only difference is an M-4 uses a round with a higher grain, and is more compact to the M-16. Therefore less range then the M-16, but lighter and just as affective. The M-16 is the only weapon out of the choices that doesn't can not be fully auto. It can with certain mods, but A2 and above which are the versions in Military use right now aren't. Both models though are really finicky and must be well maintained on cleanliness.
The SIG552.......Now that is a sexy weapon!!=) A little longer range then a M-4, but not quite as much as a M-16. It uses a choice of 5.56mm or 7.62mm rounds depending on the receiver model you choose. I like the 7.62. More stopping power! It's Easy to clean, take apart, and operate. Also really reliable. Da' German's really know how to put a weapon together. =)
But, with my Military Back ground and being force fed the M-16 and M-4, I'll take the M-4 simply cause I can put one together in my sleep and can pick the dingle-berry off a pigeon 500yrds away with it, and its a better close quarters weapon then the M-16. Plus they hold and use the Same Accessories! =)

Well, they are all so different. The AK-47 has good knockdown power, but is inaccurate...so it's better for CQC. The M-16 would be better at long distances because it's got a longer barrel than the M-4. The M-4 is good for CQC, but doesn't have the knockdown power of the AK-47 and it also requires lots of TLC or it will jam on you. The SIG 552 is the only one out of all these I've never fired, but SIG has a good reputation so it would be hard to pick against it...but since it's a carbine....I would have to go with the M-16. If I could get the Barrett M-486 in 6.8mm, I would pick that over all of these.....

Depends on what you what it for:
AK47, reliable, very heavy, inaccurate, but it is 7.62 (heavy ammo to carry a lot of) Good take down. The other three are all Nato 5.56, much lighter to carry, much lighter to carry ammo, all are more accurate, the M16 being the most accurate due to its longer barrel. SIG has neat magizines that snap together for faster mag switches, if that is important to you. The others you have to use tape to put them together and to much weight pulling on the mag will cause M4 and M16 to misfeed sometimes in older models. M16 more than M4. I've carried and fired all but the SIG. Hated the AK (I only weigh 120). loved the M4 (I'm 5'3") but actually shot best with the M16.

M4 with a piston upper (designed by HK and Patriot Ordenance Factory POF).
M4 has a huge aftermarket following wich makes it convient and cost less to obtain parts. It also means you can find lots of technical help if you ever need to upgrade, modify, or repair your M4.
But to be honest I know nothing about the SIG552

AK47, can't go wrong with a classic. It's reliable, powerful, and also is a nickname for my main man Andrei Kirilenko.

How about none of the above? There are other options how about an HK G36, or if you want a classic, why not the MP44.
