i bought my new car a few days ago. the car still has the temporary paper liscense plate on the back. i was driving on the freeway and i got my photo taken by one of those speeding cameras. Are the plates directly connected to me? will the police department still be able to give me a ticket?

In a lot of states, the license plate will go back to you.

In some cases they don't. But I think every state keeps record of where they go and they can get the information from the dealer.

Just wait, you might get lucky and the numbers might not be visible on camera

Look at it this way: I'm in my middle 40's, married, a homemaker with 3 cats. I drive one vehicle, live in a small home we bought in cash 3 years ago, pay taxes, obey the law, and to save what small cash flow I have to spend on my 3 major medical illnesses, I use my county's free library card often for leisure and education. I see no harm there, do you? I don't even "dog ear" the book pages of the library books, oh no, I use a real bookmark. I am thoughtful that way. I enjoy non-fiction books like biographies or computer skills. No mushy romance fiction stuff for me. Yet, for some reason under God's own sun, I come to find out that thanks to our own President Bush's Homeland Security Plan, you know that one, hear about it all the time here and there? Evidently, a person such as myself appears to them as a possible, however slight, threat to the security of the United States of America for the privilege of using that county library card to read just whatever I might want to and they do have the right (which I had to give them in order to get the free library card when I applied) to get a full record at any time for any reason of all the books I have read. Homeland Security has that power, authority and right to know whether or not I am reading about Liz Taylor's life or how to assemble a nuclear warhead at home. Or read about become a pilot, or wonder what is brain-washing and check into Patty Heart's kidnapping-turned-bank robber-terrorist. Pay whatever dumb ticket they slap on you and be glad you aren't so poor like me to need to borrow a book from a city library without Big Brother.

Depends if the camera read the temporary license number on the paper. If it didn't read the number, then the DMV can not trace the car to you. You are one of the ones that got away.

You lucked out (maybe); now slow down.

Maybe or maybe not, but if you fail to pay it, it does go on a warrant list for outstanding ticket. If you get stopped that is probable cause to be arrested and put in jail, the vehicle will get towed. Then you have to pay a fine for FTA, failure to appear, the ticket itself and get the vehicle out of impound. That will end up costing many hundreds more than paying the ticket for sure. Better to pay it , get it out of the way and not have to worry about going to jail , when pulled over. One state can and does enforce other states warrants for tickets.

yup they are directly linked to you. you think the state is going to let you drive around a car, and not know who owns the car by running the plates? If they do, they can at least trace it to the dealer, who can trace it to you.

Use your head! If you think that you having a temp license is enough to get you off the hook, think again. They aren't going to let a little detail like that from preventing them collecting a fine, are they???

You'll see in about a week if you get a ticket in the mail. Til then, don't sweat it.

If they can connect you to the car, you'll get a ticket. If you don't, then you lucked out.

Probably not, unless the dealership can identify you as the owner, just don't do it again.
