I spend years going from one episode of thrush to the next. I wore cotton underwear; loose clothing,i.e.- no tight jeans or tights. i did everything.
A few years ago, I got a bad chest infection, and was prescribed an antibiotic. I collected the prescription from a pharmacy I was unfamiliar with. the pharmacist, ( a woman) suggested that I always take acidophilus capsules when taking an antibiotic, and for a couple of weeks afterwards. Acidophilus replaces the natural flora in your gut and bowel that taking an antibiotic kills off, so allowing thrush to flare up. Thrush usually comes from your bowel first, but because the lower bowel and vagina are so close together, you usually feel the worst symptoms in your vagina.
You can buy acidophilus capsules in most pharmacies now, and in health food stores. Choose the unsweetened ones, with live acidophilus. Stay away from sugary things and anything with yeast in it while treating your thrush, and try and eat some of those pro-biotic yogurts too.
Since I heard of this simple, cheap treatment, I have only had thrush one in six years, which is brilliant, considering it would flare up every three or four months!

It is not caused by different materials in pants. It is already in your body and the only thing that would happen is that the pants are of a material that does not allow air to circulate and the warm moist air in your vagina causes the thrush to grow.
Thrush can grow into a yeast infection which also is candida. It is very contagious as well as serious. It craves sugar and you probably are addicted to sugar and carbohydrates. If you have a partner it will spread through sex, also through kissing. There are products that say they will cure it, however it will not prevent it from coming back or getting it again especially if you are frequently getting sick and on anti-biotics as your immune system gets weakened. You need to change your eating. If you care to you may contact me, for a yeast test, and I understand completely and want to help you as I have been helped.

Vaginal Thrush is one of the most common infections affecting the genitals. A yeast called Candida albicans is responsible for the infection and discomfort caused in most cases.
Thrush displays the classical symptoms of a vaginal itch and a discharge. The itch may also sometimes be described as a burning sensation. The discharge varies between individuals and may be of a watery consistency or thicker perhaps similar to yoghurt. So what treatment is available for this condition?

Thrush is just one of many diverse symptoms of Candida Albicans which is basically a yeast problem.....We all have Candida Albicans almost from the day we are born .......this is a yeast fungus that is usually contained to certain areas of our body unless we are stressed or are experiencing hormonal problems, another reason might be that you have had antibiotics which kill the natural bacteria in the gut which control the fungus....
There are several different medications that will help you but I would also suggest watching what you eat......Cut out bread from your diet also beer if you drink it, both are full of yeast......Eat live yogurt (not as hideous as you might imagine and easily obtainable) as this builds up the "friendly" bacteria that helps maintain a healthy balance in your gut...........if you are quite a strong determined type try to just eat fish, rice and vegetables for a while as none of these contain yeast (not mushrooms though as these are a fungus in themselves) There are plenty of small books about Candida Albicans to be found in health shops which, if you are interested, will give you more information about the problem, show you the other symptoms and give you advice on what to/what not to eat.........I wish you all the best....

If you don't want to keep dosing with Diflucan, then you can also try using some natural, live yoghurt. Choose a good quality yoghurt, with acidophilus cultures. Rachel's or Yeo Valley are both good. Apply locally to the vagina, and also eat it. DONT add sugar when you eat it, as this will just feed the yeast. And, as the others have mentioned, look at your diet. Are you eating a balanced, healthy diet? If you get it recurrently, then you might try cutting all yeast and sugar from your diet for a few weeks, but this is a tough regime to follow.
Good luck.

It's called a yeast infection But thrush when you have a yeast infection in the mouth.
Go to WalMart and buy one of the over the counter yeast infection medication. There are three different ones. Most have several different means of use. One has an oval suppository that you only have to use once. One type is for three days of use and another seven days.
Or you call your doctor tomorrow and ask for a prescription of Diflucan.

Canesten cream or tablets work well to get rid of the infection, but to stop it from recurring, try to always wear 100% cotton pants and use a non-perfumed soap. The stabilisers in the soap can cause more irritation and make your problem worse.

I've had it many times. I never know why, it just happens. You can buy a pill from the chemist called Diflucan. That'll get rid of it. If you are in UK you can get it from the doc free or cheaper than chemist, depending on where you live, as it's about £12 from the chemist. Other than that it's messy creams and pessaries. Yuck!
