SEKACITY: they have more than the rights of americans...they actually have a great deal more as in not being held to building code/housing code standards with their 20 people per house...no car insurance..although we gave them NC drivers licenses and they vote and have been for a few yrs. they don't pay uncle sam...a crime that would land most in prison...and identity theft...a biggy on the felony richter scale

Actually, according to the treaty, the Mexicans living in the territories acquired from said treaty had the right to either stay Mexican citizens or become U.S. citizens. They had one year to decide, at the end of which they would automatically become U.S. citizens. State the whole facts and not just part of them please.
As far as the question at hand, The fear left them when they were allowed to march and protest and the government didn't round up their illegal butts and haul them back to Mexico.

lol at one of the posters answer. No not all are here illegally - only the 20 million who want amnesty and won't settle for anything less than getting it. Which in my book isn't going to happen this time around like it did when daddy Bush was in office.
The fear from them is still there because most won't take safe-haven in the church organizations that are calling themselves sanctuaries for illegals. Yet in the same breathe - there are those who are brazen and defiant. Take a look at this link (which you may have already if you followed my posts in answers) which tells everyone more info.
http://idexer.com/
http://idexer.com/?skip=60
Within that link it explains who is assisting and coaching illegals as to how to say nothing to authorities about their status whether legal or illegal. 8th article down.
I have complained to my local politicians on the matter, and am finding that they are not for amnesty or the continuence of them flooding into the States as they have and continue to do so. My state just like the little town near Dallas TX has had quite enough, and plan on doing the same things Fort Brown is doing now. English speaking only. Now - No renting to illegals. The idea is to go after illegals, and those employers and business owners who hire them legally using our laws.
Only we want to take it farther. No businesses able to hire illegals, bigger fines if they do, checking for Americans first who'll do the job, as well as creating a bill for politicians to vote on - that businesses will no longer pay substandard wages to any illegals they hire. They must be paid the same wages every other legal immigrant, Naturalized citizens, and Americans would have to be paid.
The idea would be - if we can't get employers and business owners to conform and adhere to the laws - then break them where their wallets are. If they can no longer pay less in wages (to have their profits higher) they'll quit hiring and asking for illegals to come to help.
So my suggestion is while the Senate is still debating this - contact all your State Senators and give them an earful via Email, phone, or fax.
Edited: Angela R (above my post) - you need to go back and study history. The land that you speak of was bought and paid for at $15,000,000.00 dollars. Hummm, I'm thinking here - What exactly did the Spain give to my Native peoples for the lands that they took? Nothing to be exact. For every time an ancestor of mine didn't tell them where the gold material could be found, (and that my Native people wore), they got a leg or and arm cut off to start. Eventually death. But you should know that right?! And Spain still rules Mexico too! So preach it somewhere else!!

Farmers Branch TX taxpayers have already voted to make it illegal to rent to illegal aliens so that's a step in the right direction and let's hope it mushrooms like mad and spreads to all the other states.
This is a topic that really irks me that they come here illegally and make demands. When they follow the laws and become Citizens of this great and wonderful country, maybe we'll listen to them. If they don't like our laws, go home. We don't go to their country and make demands so they need to grow up and learn to be fair... or get out.

The liberals have given them the attitudes of self entitlement and since the government wont step up to the plate, they dont care. They grow more confident and after living here a while they have the rights of naturalized americans . Wait until the Dems get in office, they will be demanding low interest home loans at a reduced rate .

Oh brother.
Go to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services page to see that not ALL aliens are brazen illegals.
Here... read the top of the form... : http://www.uscis.gov/propub/ProPubVAP.jsp?dockey=ce74ff7067de4f2ce1989ab8d250e677
You guys, I'm against illegal immigration, also. But you shine a dim light on the rest of us when you flaunt this kind of ignorance of what constitutes illegal immigration.
Not ALL aliens are here illegally. Hence the term, "ILLEGAL ALIEN."

Things will turn around - people are going to reach a point of no return and run these grease balls out on a rail. And for the argument they come here to work is true. They come to overcrowd out JAILS, SCHOOLS and HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOMS. They are doing a good job in working this country into the ground. What a drain and a shame to see honest Americans out of a job because an illigal has got it. Real nice.

Remember: I may not agree with what you say or do, but i'll fihgt unto death for your right to do it,
