2005 Gmc Yukon: I want to buy a new stereo system for my suv but I don't want to lose the convienence of the seek and volume controls located on my steering wheel.

You can keep the steering wheels, but you'll need to purchase a 3rd-party adapter.

Peripheral Electronics makes adapters that will work with just about any GM steering wheel controls and can decode the signal into something an after-market radio can use. Some after-market head units have wired remote inputs on the back, so you'd want to purchase an adapter made for that brand. Otherwise you can use the universal adapter (SWI-X) to control any head unit that comes with its own wireless remote control (though you'll need to install an infrared output somewhere in the vehicle in a line of sight to the new radio).

Yes there're some after market stereo allow you keep the steering wheel controls. Such as Eonon special car DVD player, they have this function which allows your operation easily. You can also take a look at their video,shows vividly of the performance.

Yes you can, if you can locate a correct wiring harness. Scosche makes quite a few harnesses, I bought one of theirs for a Ford Taurus.
On the link below is their information with a 1-800 number for their catalog or sales department, they probably carry the harness.

Yes I have an eclipse model not exactly looking at right now for a model no. but it has that capability

it can only work with the factory stereo
