Go to the doctor to get your T3 and T4 checked (thyroid levels) if you are losing weight you might need to get some tests done (not painful) to determine if you have an elevated iodine uptake or not. Its serious and you must see a doctor. I am currently a student in Nuclear Medicine and we do these cases. Losing weight is a biggie and any malformation on the neck near the thyroid too.

If near the top of your neck but to the side, swollen glands is probable. If near the voice box in the center of the neck/throat, can be an infection in the voice box and may lead to losing your voice temporarily. If near the BASE of the neck near your colarbone area, then it is the thyroid that is swollen and upset.
You probably should get it check out soon. I have also had those types of symptoms happen when I have eaten an allergen food or it was hidden in the "spices" etc. Told my doctor about it and she was horrified! She said: it can cause you to choke if it gets worse...get to the hospital! Keep in mind this was the allergen that I am talking about, not the thyroid or swollen glands, etc!

Sounds like a goiter-Enlarged thyroid - "fancy" is right go to the Dr and get a blood test done for T3 & T4 & also TSH levels. My wife had a similar thing and as well as the weight loss her hair started falling out and her calcium levels were extremely high (not good for the kidney's). Please don't mess about with it go and get it checked out.

Could be any number of things, including an infection. Go to the doctor and get it checked out, you might just need some medication, but it could also be serious.
