Because society is now more or less gender equal...

To the best of my knowledge, all American publicly funded schools are co-educational institutions, i.e. they do not segregate boys and girls in the classroom.

Some private schools and colleges are single-sex schools, but they are becoming rare these days.

I'd say the reason is the change in society which has less and less seperation of the sexes.

why wouldn't they? if you didnt have guys and girls in the same classes together that would totally be discriminating.
