Is there anyone other than me trying to loose weight to join the military??
I have to loose 100 lbs to join the marine corps....i have braces..and i have 17 more units to go before i graduate with my associate's degree...so i have to wait until i loose eight, pass my asvab, get my braces off, and get my aa...Is anyone else struggling with this also? Other than me? More specifically the weight obstacle? And if you what are you doing, and how, and also is it working?

I had to loose weight to join the Coast Guard last year. I had a bad time with it. I didn't have to loose a hundred but good luck. Try the special K diet. You eat 2 bowls a cereal a day and a healthy dinner. Or switch. Eat a big break feast and lunch and dinner eat cereal. Also snack in between meals. Healthy and small to keep your body burning up everything. Drink lots and lots of water. Run your 3 miles every other day. One day a week run 5. On days you don't run do push ups, sit ups, and other muscle exercises. I also walked/run an hour everyday. Hope this helps.

I am having to lose weight too.
30 more lbs for the height i am. Ive lost about 10 or so since ive started. Ive been going to the gym as much as possible doing at least 45 mins of cardio and that is on my worst day, weight training and trying to run a mile and a half in 12 mins or less. and eating right!! Ive given up a lot of the foods i love.

im struggling its hard because like you i am trying to finish my associates, luckily i will be done next month- plus i am working 2 jobs.

My obstacles are the push ups, i cant do them and staying on track, but you have to work hard for what you want.

feel free to email me if you want!

I lost 87 lbs to get in the army 23 years ago. It's not just about losing the weight to get in its about keeping it off. I had to run 2 miles 5 days a week on my own to stay at weight. That was in addition to the 2 miles we ran in PT 3 times a week. If you cant keep it off don't join.

I was there for a while. I was going to join the Air Force Reserve. I was not trying to lose weight so much as gain muscle. I ran just about everyday ( 2 miles) did push ups and sit ups. It was hard as hell but after a while you begin to see a difference. You have to eat right in order to lose weight as well as. It worked it just took time. Good Luck!

I have a friend who had to lose weight to join the military. She took up jogging. She jogged in marathons and charity runs... and she looks great! She is very dedicated.

Me? I'd have to lose more than weight... I'd have to lose a few years.

why would you want to join the marines if you are about to graduate with a degree? if you really want to join the military i would talk to the other branches if i were you. the airforce and army would have a lot more to offer you.

I would start by spelling lose properly. It is "lose" not "loose".
