You've gotten some very honest answers here - 105 is very small for your height. Can I ask questions here too, and these you need to answer honestly - not to me, but maybe to your mom since she cares about you more than any other human possibly can. Are you sincerely trying to gain weight or is that a scary thought for you? Do you eat regularly and eat high quality foods, or is something else going on? There is so much emphasis on image (distorted image for that matter) these days, people need to be realistic. Your parents and your doctor can help whether you've got a disorder or medical condition which prevents weight gain - I urge you to please ask for help.

According to th BMI (Body Mass Index) your number is 16. Anything smaller than 18.5 is considered underweight. Up to 25 is considered a healthy weight. The lack of ability to gain weight could be due to your age. Many people under the age of 18 can eat like a horse and not gain a pound. I would review you diet and see what types of food you are eating. See if they are foods that encourage weight loss.

U have a fast metabolism...I call that a blessing. Eat all your mom's food and then her attitude may change. lol Personally I wouldn't worry about it, ur mom is just concerned as any parent who loves their child. If u r concerned then I would talk to a doctor or nutritionist..they will be able to tell u if u r getting the required amount of varied proteins, carbs and fats.
God Bless U,
Daniel

how old are you? when i was in my teens i used to be thin as well. weighed about the same as you and same height. i used to eat a lot and don't gain an ounce. hehe... those were the days! sigh... young people tend to have a faster metabolic rate, no matter how much they eat they burn those calories.
when i got to my 20's, i guess my metabolism caught up with me and i starte gaining weight.
so if you don't have any problem with consuming food, you're not barfing or avoiding food altogether, i wouldn't worry about it much. =>

105 is pretty thin for someone who's 5'8. I'm 105 at 5'5 and I think I'm too skinny. Have your thyroid checked, if it is overactive it will speed up your metabolism too much.

it really depends you know. my relatives have been saying that im too thin as well. im 5'4" and im about 95 lbs. im asian so that's normal because asians are a smaller build than caucasians. check your eating habits. do you eat less than what your mum eats? do you have any eating disorders? i've had a hard time gaining weight myself. i actually eat alot but i can't seem to put on weight! it's hard to put on weight for me when your build has always been a slim one. just check on your eating habits. talk it over with your mum. if you need to, talk with a doctor. hope all goes well.

No, I am 5'7 and I weigh roughly 105 too (103 to be exact), sure by "normal" standards, we are thin, but I'm also extremely healthy... it all has to do with metabolism.

yes you are. 105 lbs is normal for a 5'2" person. well some people are like that. maybe you have a small bone structure and you`re metabolism is high. you could try working out to build muscles. that way you`ll get heavier.

you are very lean.
have you seen a doctor about this?
perhaps you should.
don't know your age or if you are very athletic.
at 5'8" your weight should be in the range of 135-150 lbs..depending upon your bone structure.
