Keep inside for at least 14 days and away from other animals.
No running, jumping, swimming, playing with other dogs.
only let him go out side to use the restroom then back inside
don't let him lick at it if he does then buy little boy boxers and turn it so that the tail goes through the hole(it still inables him to use the restroom.
Don't clean it just let it heal on its own keep it dry.
sutures don't disapear right away they can take up to 3 months to fully desolve. But most places put the suture under the skin then use skin glue to close the outer layer
hope thats helpful to you

no need to worry about him. They recover quickly. They will be woozy the first day, after that they will be just fine. Try to stop him from licking. Some people use an elizabeth collar that you can purchase at a pet supply store to prevent the dog from licking. Not a bad idea but I don't use it because the dog doesnt like it. I keep an eye on him and have him stay close to me so I stop him everytime he licks. Other than that he should be just find and the incision should heal up nicely - 1 week then you can bathe him if you want.

For a male just takes a few days, a female will take a few days longer. You should crate the dog and if your vet did not prescribe any pain medication you can give baby aspirin ( 81 mg) from 1/2 tablet for a 10 pound dog, to up to 2 tablets for a very large dog.

i am a veterinary assistant, usualy they will keep the dog overnight just to monitor him, they will use an e-collar so he wont lick the incision and when they get out the next day they will keep the e-collar on him for when hes at your home, just let him rest for a few days before letting him go out and monitor his back area to make sure everything is ok and he hasnt become infected or got a hematoma
