I am referring to dedicated bombers and not fighter bombers like the Messerschmitt BF110, DeHavilland Mosquito fighter bomber, the Bristol Beaufighter, etc.

Pull up the April 2007 issue of Flight Journal magazine. Thre's a short article about a Mitchell B-25 doing battle with a Japanese Betty.

Usually not the bombers mostly the fighter escorts the bombers had.

The B26 was fitted with radar and used as a night fighter. It could match the dedicated fighters in speed.

No. They were not manoeverable enough and rarely came across each other on combat missions.
