Christians ignore the prophesies. The messiah of judaism would triumph over whichever foreign power was running Israel at the time and would reestablish the kingdom of David. Jesus didn't. He wasn't the messiah prophesied by the OT no matter how many verses the christians choose to cherry-pick.

What? Christians didn't 'steal' the idea of a Messiah.Christianity was born out of Judaism.Jesus' early followers were Jews who believed that Jesus fulfilled the Jewish Messianic prophecies, and was the Messiah.

Christians stole? I would need to make one understand what the Jews thought would happen when messiah "Jesus" came in order to make things understandable for outsiders and that is too complicated sorry! but if really interested suggest go back to the Jewish history/religious beliefs do much studying and then compare with what really happened during life and times of Jesus Christ, if you do this with some help your knowledge and understanding will grow and then these concepts may become better/easier to understand - If this is what you really wish is the understanding of what was/is/will happen according to these text, May our lord guide you and help with this - AMEN!

by fact the assumption of a Messiah is Jewish, and the prophecies concerning in spite of if or no longer one is the Messiah are from Jewish writings, do no longer ou think of that Jews have the terrific suited to verify in spite of if or no longer the Messiah has come? it quite is form of like Muslims coming and telling you that Christian interpretations of Christian writings are incorrect. Or some Buddhist telling you the thank you to accomplish your individual rituals! You study "the Hebrew Scriptures a week in the past"? all of them? It takes JEWISH pupils an entire LIFETIME to get with the aid of all of them! WHy are you asking CHRISTIANS to tell you what JEWS have faith, and the thank you to transform to Judaism? do no longer you think of you would be addressing your question to JEWISH human beings? Or, greater effective yet, a rabbi. How might you exchange to Judaism? no longer by asking a Christian that should assist you out...yet by asking a RABBI.

You have to realize a couple of things. Christianity started as a jewish sect. Jesus was a jew. Originally only jews were considered as followers of Jesus. Jews early on dismissed Jesus as the Messiah

I saw Little Richard, on the 700 Club. He was explaining to Dale Evans (Roy Rogers wife) how Pat Boone stole the song, 'Tuti Fruti'. And then they prayed, forgave him as a fellow Christian, and praised God for making it all good, because that opened the door for boogy woogie in a very straight America...
I just thought I'd through that in...

Dear Archy -
1.Christians didn't "steal the idea of a messiah".
(read the bible for more info)
2. Once Jewish people take the New Testament to heart they many time realize that Jesus is the Messiah for Jews and Gentiles. (again for more info go to the source God's Word the Bible)
What I do find interesting is the unlimited ways people try to discredit God, Jesus and the Bible. With any amount of research you can find the truth, IF you want to know it. Many people plug their ears and close their eyes to the truth of God's Word for a variety of reasons.. None of which will help them when they finally "go to meet their maker".

That's BULL
The first 5 books as well as the rest of the old testament points to the one who would come. Jesus
The Jews knew he was the Messiah but they didn't want to lose their position or their money. They felt Jesus would take the spotlight and they wouldn't be needed .
They knew what line he would be born into..what place he would be born. the prophecies in the bible were very easy to understand by them.

We don't claim such. We know such. Isn't it interesting that the Xtians stole the idea of a messiah from us, and claim the Xtian version fits our prophecies?

the christians embrace Jesus (a Jew) as Savior who died for their sins on the cross.
the Jews have always been looking for a kingly politically powerful individual, so they dont accept the suffering Messiah.
