Has anyone been maintaining a geneology chart? Who are the current descendents? If the Jews lost track,why? Shouldn't this have been kind of important?

It is the claim of a type of pseudohistory that the blood line and right to the throne of Israel was preserved in the Merovingian kings of France. This "sacred" bloodline is protected by the Priore de Sion whose agenda it is to steer world events toward the acceptance of a single world-government with a Davidic King as its head.
It is claimed by some that this bloodline deception is the means by which a shadow government will bring about the reign of the anti-christ which will be accepted by Jews as their Messiah, by most Christians as Christ's second coming, and by Muslims as their 12th Imam Mahdi, thus uniting all currently conflictiing Abrahamic Religions into one massively deceived world religion.
It was necessary for Jews to "lose track" of the Davidic line after the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70 to be convinced by this false messiah, his miracles, signs and obvious kingly authority.

1) There are a few families which can trace their geneaologies back to David accurately
2) The messiah being from the family of David is easy to establish AFTER the fact. If everythign happens that is meant to happen with the coming of mashiach, we will know the person is from the house of David. If the person claims to be from the house of David, but does not do anything the mashiach is meant to do, then he is not mashiach. The important thing is that the mashiach does what he is meant to do- which is:
1) Bring about world peace
2) Bring the Jewish exiles back to Israel
3) Find and sacrifice a par adumah (red heffer)
4) Rebuild the temple
5) Re-establish the temple service with all its sacrifices
6) Resurrect the dead
7) Have the Jews seen as priests to the rest of the world

From what I have learned, the genealogies were lost when the temple was destroyed in AD 70.
Jesus is the Messiah for the Jews and Gentiles alike.

At this generational period all Jews are in the line of David. Intermarriage of the blood lines have merged the DNA if not significantly, enough that all Jews carry the DNA of David. This was not true in Biblical times. Jesus did not carry the blood of David in his veins. This is why he failed the prophesy.

If anyone shows up and fulfills the true messiah prophesies in the OT, his genealogy will not be questioned.
Christians seem to forget that the jews of the time rejected Jesus as the messiah because he failed as a jewish messiah.
