Why do they try to prove it by saying water can be in three forms.

Sorry, but that doesn't mean anything. It has no connection to the trinity in anyway shape or form.

Why would god change his mind from pure monotheism where there is one god, to switching to becoming part of the trinity.
Doesn't make sense.

If not, than he can't be a begotten son.

The water illustration is not proof,it is simply a way of understanding a very complex doctrine...Here is the example spelled out...

It is a well know fact of chemistry, that plain water, when placed in a vacuum under 230 mil.of gas pressure and at a temp.of 0 degrees cent.,solidifies into ice at the bottom of the container of flask, remains liquid in the center and vaporizes at the top. At a given instant, the same water is both solid, liquid and gas,yet all 3 are manifestations of the same basic substance of nature. H20

People that understand trinitarianism, belive in one God not three. Think of the truine nature of man Body,Soul,Spirit...3 yet only ONE> God is also triune in nature...3 persons..one God 1x1x1=1 not 1+1+1 these are also illustrations...it can be proven using biblical texts as well....very difficult, yet extremely easy to understand at the same time.

(3 = 1) ..Matthew 28 : 19 .. Go ye therefore , and teach all nations , baptizing them in the name of the Father , and of the Son , and of the Holy Ghost ..* 1 John 5 : 5 - 7 .. Who is he that overcometh the world , but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God ? This is he that came by water and blood , even Jesus Christ ; not by water only , but by water and blood . And it is the Spirit that beareth witness , because the Spirit is truth .. For there are three that bear record in heaven , the Father , the Word , and the Holy Ghost : and these three are one ..

I don't know why people try and "prove" anything faith related. Faith is a personal relationship with God and everyone experiances it it in their own way. I was raised catholic and the way that I was taught about the trinity is that the father, the son and the holy spirit are not seperate entitys but one. They can be recognised in three different ways by humans but really they are all the same. I hope that helps alittle.

The water example only PROVES that they have a 3 part god in one spirity which is POLYTHEISM.

Water cannot be steam, liquid and solid at ONE and the SAME time so the example is flawed.

The Trinity is confusing because they are trying to make polytheism into monotheism and it can never make sense.

any one who says that is stupid. and about why he changed his mind, first of all he didn't he is still one being. just dfferent parts. But he needed a way to open the gates of heven and lead those from purgitory into Heaven, and being in Human form did help show his power, rising from the dead? lets see you do that.
and blue sky we do believe in the trinity
its three in one Father, Son, and holy spirit. all one diety. how it orks well thats why the call it a ystery, you don't have to believe just don't ask because there's only on person who knows it all, or three people for you.

Back when I was Christian, I used the water thing as a metaphor more than anything else. It's just a tangible picture that people can relate to when they have problems with the concept.

The water example is a great one, it gets you to understand the zest of the trinity.
