I have already worked out a payment plan to pay back my loan

If your loan is in default, you are not eligible for federal or state aid. However, you should contact the loan servicer or lender to see what you must do to clear the default. Generally, you must make 9 consecutive on-time payments to rehab the loan. You may just need to have the lender ask the school to confirm that you are enrolled half-time to clear the default so talk to the lender/servicer to see what you must do.

I believe most universities have something called Emergency Tuition Assistance that can help you out as long as you pay it back within 90 days. There are other options, just schedule an appointment with a counselor at your school. They are there to keep you in school no matter what your financial situation is.(There are limits though.)
