Once on the written - twice on the road --She didn't like my parallel parking.
I had a feeling I would not pass, as I was waiting for the examiner to come back from another test I saw her out of the corner of my eye....
I just knew it was her! Then she called forward the mother of the guy she tested and she came forward. The examiner proceeded to YELL about how her son is a horrible driver, doesn't know what he is doing, should never pass, and FAILED THIS TEST!!!!!!!!!
I was sssssssooooooooooo scared after that!!! Then it was my turn. And she was so rude to me from the beginning! And she yelled when we came back to the DMV too...my parents were actually quite upset. I didn't think they would be so mad but I think they were tired of driving me around and were humilliated by this woman's display. (Turned out she is famous there for this...)
So, a month later I got to take it again and I got the head guy in charge. He also was the father of some girl at school (although I wasn't friends with her-she was a bit older). From the beginning he was so cool and friendly. He told me, not to worry he wasn't there to not allow me on the road and the experience of driving more. I did great, even though I have a feeling he would've passed me anyway. We parallel parked in front of his friend's house...he rolled down the window and conversed with his friend while I parked correctly. :)
He talked with me throughout the test but not so much that I couldn't concentrate. And the rest is history..........
Don't worry too much though. I know a TON of ppl who did not pass the first time! We still make fun of each other though all these years later....
Some examiners are just HORRIBLE.......I've been around for other ppls tests and have seen them go off A LOT...on parents, kids, wives, husbands...adults (like immigrants that have driven for YEARS and just need to take the test here to get their license).....
On the one hand I can bet they get scared for their lives sometimes....on the other I think they have ROAD RAGE and let the power go to their heads!!!

I passed on the first try and the only question I got wrong was how many points against your license is it when you get a citation for passing a school bus with it's red lights on.

Well, I got in a year before anyone in my state gave a damn. I think they passed everyone in my class who wasn't openly intoxicated. (Yes, there was a kid who showed up to driver's ed drunk.) They passed a bunch of laws and restricted when a driver under 18 could be driving the following year.

I failed my first test because I'd never practiced parking. I was so upset I didn't take the test again for 6 years. I'd recommend not following my example lol.

twice on the written twice on the road
I was in my 30s and had never been through drivers ed. All I did was read the book and had a Friend who used teaching me as a prelude to teaching her own kids.
First time on the written it was insurance questions.
First time on the road it was a wrong lane to do something.

I passed the second time with six minors, the first time they failed me for going too slow over a speed bump.

One.
It was easier then. Not as many cars on the road.
By the grace of God though. My examiner was really tough.
"You call that a full stop?"
"Who taught you how to drive?"
"You just went through an uncontrolled intersection."
