Your question indicates that you have no experience at all with kick-boxing so try to relate it to whatever sport you have experienced.
Your cardio is your endurance. It is the same with the MA or basketball, football, etc.
Cardio training is anything that increases your heart rate to 65-85% of your aerobic capacity. Some exercises that are great for cardio training are running, cycling, swimming, skipping rope, rowing, walking, or even an aerobics class.
If any of these exercises sound like fun then get started. One thing is certain. You will increase your endurance the more your exercise.

Cardio helps in a number of ways. First, a lot of fighters-especially armatures let their body tell their mind what to do when they are tired. A good pro fighter its just the opposite; he will continue to throw punches and kicks with speed and power even though he feels tired. A pro fighter is much more relaxed and conserves his energy and does not waste it on useless combinations or movement. Good cardio gives you the ability to do all this over a longer period of time and together with your skills prepares you to win. Your skill, ability and conditioning are the only things you have a direct control over (not the other guy) and a good fighter should never lose a fight because he ran out of gas or was not prepared. When I fought pro I would train and do several 4 minute rounds and 45 second rests on the heavy bag. I would also do at least one four minute round of nothing but jabs and also one of nothing but kicks. That way my jabs were always sharp and crisp and I knew that even though I felt tired I could still kick. That would then be followed by speed bag training or focus pad training. All that was one workout and then I would sleep and then spire that night with sparring partners at least three times per week and run 3-5 miles five times per week. Also all this training makes you mentally tough. I beat a lot of fighters that were as good as or better than me they just did not know it or were not as tough mentally.

when you're kickboxing, you tend increase your heart rate and breathing very quickly. having good cardio means that you're able to keep your energy level up for a long period of time because you're heart is used to that level of exertion. to improve your cardio, you might want to consider running, swimming, jump roping, go to an aerobic kickboxing class, etc. pretty muchanything that will keep your heart rate up for an extended period of time. these things will kick your butt at first but like all exercises, the more you do the more strength and endurance you gain.

the better your cardio shape is, the more you can do in kickboxing (and any martial arts) , cardio is any exercise that makes you work the cardio-vascular system, so anything that would make your heart go faster will do (bike, running, rope jumping and so on)
