All religions have Creation Myths. I thinks it falls in line with seeking equilibrium in order to make sense of things. It isn't until Genesis 1:5 that "...there was evening, and there was morning—the first day." There is a lot of space and time in those first four verses. Verse 2 leads me to images of the movie Fantasia and its own little "from-then-to-now" story. Lies? Mainly used for fear of losing something.
I have felt for some time that when Constantine converted to Christianity (essentially in the Edict of Milan) it was to put the entire uprising of the Christians in a box so that it could be shaped and molded to the emperor's liking. Then, in Nicaea in 325 the box was further shaped and molded, keeping things even closer under a rule of thumb.
My experience as a Christian has been that most sermons were founded on a basis of fear as a means to salvation. "Unless you repent you're going to hell. Get your ticket now and you can just sit there in the pew and wait to die, listening to the same old message again and again."
I guess you could say I had my first epiphany when I found out that the Gospels (a better translation would be Good News letters) were not written until the latter 1/4 of the first century (some even later), that the earliest writing is probably from Paul and that Jesus was probably born in the Spring time. Thankfully, this sent me on a mission to find understanding instead of a mission of resentment and revenge.
I'm still not happy with the Christian community as a whole, but it is the only realm in which I have come across the idea of forgiveness (the most important Christian message for me and often overlooked). Then again, I was raised Christian and not exposed to other things until I was able to venture for myself. I like what Ghandi said; "If it weren't for Christians, I'd become a Christian."
I find fulfillment in textual analysis of the New Testament and in Historical Jesus material. Two books I recommend: Christ; A Crisis in the Life of God (Jack Miles) & Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time (Marcus Borg).
Never, ever give up searching for the truth! Even if it doesn't exist, you'll find some interesting things along the way.

Perhaps you should have found the Truth spent in God's word asking the Holy Spirit to lead you into all Truth's. Science has said there had to be a Intelligiant Designer, we've known that from the beginning,Open your ears, eyes & mind, and heart to the Holy Spirit. Have Faith and search for the answers with a sincere heart.

So, because there are people who hate what Christianity stands for, and used science to damage your faith, you're going to buy the lie, and embrace falsehood, while blaming the church for deceiving you?
There are lies being told in the name of science and evolution as well. You don't seem to mind those, however.
As it is written: "...Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written: "So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge." (Romans 3:4)
Either God did what He said in His Word, or He lied. And if He lied about that, then no one is free from sin, and all are doomed.

You can read, The Bible is interpreted different ways by different people. As a believer you don't need a church or anyone to tell you. Read and ask God for the wisdom to understand the non understandable by human fault.

It takes much more faith to believe in the scientific theory of the origin.
A theory is defined (when you get right down to it) as a scientific GUESS which is supported by data BUT NOT PROVEN!
Every time that science gets proven wrong, they take a different guess, or just deny it. Scientific theories are changing rapidly, and each time, it points to the Bible being right, but rather than even beginning to admit that, they just change the theory.

Not all people who claim to be Christians are sincere, so read the Bible and decide for yourself.
If I robbed a bank saying I did it for you would you be punished for what I did? The obvious answer is no, so don't hold it against Jesus when people do what He said not to do and say they are doing it for Him.

I know what you're going through. I was raised to go to a Pentecostal church(dads idea mom isn't very religious). When I was old enough to decide for myself what I wanted I stopped going, few years later went again then started questioning and stopped going. My mom was supportive while I went but she doesn't like the Pentecostal religion(personal reasons and they're a tad hypocritical). When I stopped going to church my dad started preaching but doesn't so much now but he and I have started butting heads. I was trying to figure out what religion I wanted to follow but was staying in the area of Christianity. But a few weeks ago I took a leap that I'm still adjusting to after being a Christian for seventeen years I became Wiccan. And I'm happy and comfortable with my beliefs now. I'm done questioning.
Hope you find what you're looking for.

Let me tell you: Science lies to you as well.
Its just a corrupt world. The truth is you have to find your own way, on what you believe.
Science as well ignores history and agriculture.
Remember one thing though: 6 day creation: In God's timing, Thats not the 24 hour time period we know it today.
Churches tell you too not believe all scientist, because they flat out ignore people who "disagree" and all the facts to back that up....
I am not saying the church is perfect, but I am just trying to tell you that, when Man is invloved, Its never going to be truth.
Good luck too you

You go on and believe science. Shun the truths in the Bible. Call God a liar. Reject the sacrifice that Christ made for you.
You sound like an atheist, not a Christian. You'll fit right in.
One more thing. Pour gasoline in a pool, and practice swimming in it. It will come in handy.

If you're a Christian troll, you're a smart one, I'll give you that. So, I'll bite:
There are many reasons why your church would mislead people, deliberately or otherwise. Here's just one: Religion is big business. And it's a business that never goes out of business, because it sells what everybody wants -- the promise of immortality.
Of course it's nonsense. But they're counting on most people being too distracted and/or fearful to figure that out. And they're right, most of the time.
