There's no quick fix. There are things that people and organisations can do that will help slow down global warming and there are schemes in the pipeline that, if developed, may in the future 'cure' global warming.
I won't go into detail here but if you go to this webpage http://profend.com/global-warming/pages/combat you'll find lots more details.

There's a way to slow its effects, if we stop emitting gases into the atmosphere pretty much right now. However, the problem as already happened. There's no way that we can just stop emitting gases and global warming will stop. We have to let the Earth run its course. Unfortunately, there's no real way to undo what we have done right now. I'd say that the only solution is what is eventually going to happen, the elimination of all life and the Earth going through a bunch of renewing stages.

The only solution to global warming is people learning to love the earth and taking care of it.

Yes, but the path is a hard one.
We must begin to produce cars that are 80% more efficient than they are today. In the same process we need to remove the false notion that being environmentally friendly is costly. Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs have taken the stage and use up to 80% less energy than before. Add to the mix energy star refrigerators, dryers, washers, printers, computers, and many other devices and we can make a dent in household energy uses which covers 22% of all energy use in the United States.
Besides reducing household energy costs corporations need to either take a lead in reducing their carbon footprint or be forced by law to emit much less than they are now. Laws passed by congress and regulations passed by the Environmental Protection Agency would greatly help if such a day were to come. By regulating the amount of water and energy buildings use we can further decrease the impact of day to day activities. The new Bank of America building in New York City offers solutions such as natural lighting which eliminates the use of electrical lights during the day, as well as toilets that reuse the water from the sinks to flush the toilets. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standard is starting to certify more and more buildings for highly reduced energy costs. Even school systems are building new schools to this standard to reduce energy usage through geothermal heating and waterless toilets. Bigger projects include going carbon neutral such as yahoo’s campaign to become emissionless by the end of 2007. Google has also added solar panels to its buildings and is also working on other ways to reduce energy costs.
Another phenomenon we are observing is called Global Dimming, this is contributing to the climate change we are seeing throughout the world. The smog in our atmosphere is blocking the sun’s rays from hitting the earth, causing a slight decrease in temperature. This decrease in temperature is actually counteracting the real effects of Global Warming and is causing droughts throughout the world. The smog in the air effectively disperses monsoons, which caused the Ethiopian famines of the late 20th century. The lack of rain is contributing to the expansion of the Sahara desert as well as tens of millions of deaths. Our current war against pollution is extremely effective and has been clearing the air of harmful particles. However, we must work quickly to decrease the effects of CO2 quickly or global warming will increase in magnitude.
Steps individuals can take include:
Switching to compact fluorescent light bulbs
Driving less
Carpooling
Riding the bus
Taking shorter showers
Using a compost bin (to reduce the amount of trash we are shipping in giant trucks)
Turning appliances off instead of putting to “stand by”
Letting your lawmakers know that you care
Using canvas bags for shopping instead of the plastic bags
Recycle paper, aluminum, tin, plastic, cardboard
Most of all, don’t lose hope just seeing the news of global warming, if we work together right now and alert as many people as we can we can still turn the tide on the horrific events that may become imminent in just a few years.

I think we need to look at the what is causing the most Carbon Dioxide (CO2) problems.
Is it cars or Big boats or Diesel trucks or buses, power plants etc.... Then we should try to correct that problem as much as we can.
Then we should find the next biggest Carbon Dioxide contributor and see how much we reduce that problem.
If we get organized about the problem and take a good look I think we could slow down Global warming.
We put more effort into it if we don't I think the earth can not take many more years of this.
I think it's getting clearer and clearer we got stop what where doing now instead of later and try to reduce the CO2 levels.

Adjust and adapt. That is ALL we can do! As our orbit brings us closer to the Sun year after year, Earth will continue to heat up. When we reach minimum distance from the Sun, our orbit will start moving us gradually away again. That's real global warming.
"global warming" as it has been hyped up, does not exist except as a mass paranoid delusion

We can´t avoid global warming, nevertheless we can try to avoid a too high increase of temperatures that would harm too much the mankind and its activities.
Scientists and economists believe this "safe scenario" would be to limit the warming to 2°C
To achieve this, the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere should not exceed 500ppm
For the rest, I give you the link about the wikipedia page about global warming mitigation. 70% of it will be achieve using existing technologies.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitigation_of_global_warming
And out of the 70% most of it will be achieved through energy efficiency.

Yes
Shut down the factory farms.
Cut the global population.
Stop spewing fumes into the air needlessly.
That said, Food conglomerates are going to get bigger and produce even more poisonous foods, There will be more advances in medicine which will prolong lives adding to our excessive population, and there is no way we can get people to stop flying, driving, and promoting NASCAR.
We're screwed.

If you want to take action there are a lot of things that you can do, for example, don’t leave electronics, (such as computers, televisions, etc.) in standby mode (because even if they are in standby mode they are using energy, when you don’t actually need it); recycle (if you recycle you can save 2400 pounds of carbon dioxide a year, which is a big help for our environment); switch to green energy (green energy is the type of energy that is not going to damage the environment, this energy is made by natural processes, like solar power, wave power and wind power. One of the examples of the green energy things that you can buy are fluorescent lights); don’t use your car so many times (while you are using a car you’re burning fossil fuels, which are extremely dangerous for our environment); try not go by plane (airplanes are responsible for 2 to 3 percent of human CO2 emissions, because they trap energy in Earth's atmosphere); use less hot water (because it takes a lot of energy to heat water); plant more trees (one tree will absorb a ton of carbon dioxin over its lifetime) and spread the word (if a lot of people know about this world crisis it will be much easier to take action, because we will have everybody’s help).

global warming cannot be stopped but we can stop helping it becoming faster, and being friendlier to out Environment cannot be bad
if you do any cleaning up leave signs behind saying who cleaned, why and ask people not to start dumping rubbish again ,leave a hole or bins ,in case people come with trash ,
we have done a lot of comunity cleaning and if you dont leave alternatives or try to work on peoples guilt feelings (some people actually have those ,but not many)
than your efforts are a waste of time.
these are Al gores sites

POSITIVE ACTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to slowdown the destructive processes
reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.
the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.
the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia
Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.
the protection of existing forrests.
stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.
education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.
education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´population
Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.
more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks
,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour
alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine
recicling wastes,limit water use
here are a 100 more ways
