Perhaps now would be an ideal time to remind people that using God to justify hatred of other people is an even greater abomination -- according to Jesus himself when he warned his judgmental followers that they will be judged with the same judgments.
As for homosexuality being an abomination, it is not, except for those intolerant bigots who like to sound self-righteous to promote their own hatred.

In one of the recent retrospective clips of Jerry Falwell they showed a debate he had with an homosexual activist. The homosexual claimed that Falwell had called gay people an abomination. Falwell made a clear statement that he had not said gays WERE an abomination but that homosexuality WAS an abomination.
Most Christians would make the distinction between being an abomination and commiting acts that were an abomination. So if even right wing Christian are not as you put it aware that homosexuals are an abomination. Why do you think this question makes any sense?

I wonder if YOU have read the scriptures. My bet is that YOU are an abominator, too.
OTHER ABOMINATIONS IN THE BIBLE:
Eating shellfish.(Leviticus 11:10), (Leviticus 11:11) AND (Leviticus 11:12) Eating pork. (Leviticus 11:7)
Adultery (Lev 18:20), Remarrying one's wife after she's had another husband in between (Deut 24:4) Having sex with a woman while she’s on her period (Lev 18:19) Trimming one's beard (Lev 19:26-28) Taking out a loan, or giving a loan and charging interest. (Psalms 15-1-5) Wearing a material made of wool and linen, (Deuteronomy 22:11) Wearing any blended material, period. (Leviticus 19:19)
Of course, when something YOU do is shown to be an abomination, like many abominators (who quote the Bible to condemn others) you will claim that that’s not what the Bible MEANT. (So now the Bible is suddenly open for re-interpretation--but only the part that pertains to YOU--and of course, it'll always be in YOUR favor.) Fundamentalists change their entire methodology of scriptural interpretation when it suits their purpose, even when dealing with verses that are a just couple of sentences away from each other! Remember, this isn't about faith whatsoever. It's about people who have pre-existing anti-gay prejudice in their hearts. They selectively quote the Christian Bible to attempt to affirm and legitimize that pre-existing prejudice. You don't see the same people condemning those who eat shrimp cocktail, do you? And that's named as an abomination THREE times—in the SAME book of the Bible!
It's called HYPOCRACY, and most people who call homosexuals abominations based on what the Bible says are hypocrites.

homosexuals are not abominations. they have different beliefs and a different way of thinking. why cant you just accept that homosexuals are in our society and will continue to be? just get over it. and why would they care to read the scriptures if it states that they are abominations? youre so senseless. they do no affect YOU personally.
if youre so into the scriptures, it says that you must love your neighbours. homosexuals are your neighbours too. you must love them as well, no matter what they are or who they are. we are all sinners but we have been forgiven by jesus christ's sacrifice. if being homosexual is a sin, then they are forgiven as well as you and i.
people like you should just ignore these things if it bothers you so much. humans are good at being ignorant, like you have just displayed.

I don't think they consider themselves an abomination. So the references to homosexuality in the Scriptures would have no meaning to them. According to one homosexual man, they have their religion too and it isn't right for we Christians to judge them.
At the recent Bishops Conference, there was instruction on how to deal with homosexual Catholics. So I guess they are counseled differently than those of us who don't practice their lifestyle.
We need to pray for them as we pray for ourselves and everyone else.

I think that most homosexuals are quite well aware of what they are or are not. Most of them wrestle with it for a very long time. All sin is an abomination before God, so maybe you should clean up your own backyard before you start telling your neighbour how messy his is.

You sound like a closet homosexual. Is that true? Do you really hate yourself that much, or is it the fear that you are what you hate what drives you. Are you afraid that you are another Haggard, although not nearly as famous or perverted? Why not come out, right here on this forum. We will not hate you as much as you hate yourself. I promise. Now that we know that you are a homosexual, we can better understand your posts. You are a masochist. Poor child. We shall pity you. Does that make you feel a little better, ye who are the object of our pity?

I've read the scriptures. I've decided to love everyone as I love myself like Jesus taught us by having faith in myself as I do in God. My faith in an omnipotent God is not solely based on a book, but on my relationship with him. I am aware that I am scorned by the people who ask questions like this, but they do not concern me. My real concern is the people who find themselves in turmoil because of such attitudes. To those people, all I can say is have faith in yourself, and ignore people who are self-imprisoned in the frail walls of empty platitudes.

Fan: The Jesus Christ, who I worship does not subscribe to those who bear His name, going around condemning others. The Apostle Paul has this to say regarding those "in this world" and our responsibility as Christians: see First Corinthians, chapter 5, verses 12 & 13. Get off the gay bashing - whatever happened to "Love your neighbor as yourself"? Stop being so holier-than-thou !!!
