weight lifting is not enough...you have to combine it with running and a diet (not a diet like those for loosing weight..i mean you don`t have to give up eating stuff you like..you just have to calculate the calories and be sure you burn more when you run)..as for running...if you want results you will have to run 3-4 times a week for AT LEAST half an hour..but it is recomended to run daily..that way you will reduce body fat and by weight lifting your muscles will become more visible from under the fat
PS: sorry for my english..(not my native language)

Diet (what you eat, I don't mean going on a diet) is the key factor, you can always out eat any energy deficit caused by exercise. That said the solution to healthy fat loss always includes exercise. You are heading in the right direction but you need to sort out your eating patterns too otherwise you won't lose the fat you want. Building muscle will help you burn fat. Muscle is metabolically expensive and takes energy to maintain. Bottom line, your body will try and remove excess muscle for that very reason. So lifting weights will help. Jump rope is also good, but using it for long periods of time is not the best option. The reason is that while you burn energy while exercising you will burn more in the recovery phase while your body repairs the damage caused to the muscles and rebuilds it. Studies have shown that interval training is more effective than cardio and you can do that very effectively with your rope. Twenty minutes every other day of hard interval training is all you need, and by that I do mean hard. Long cardio routines are more likely to reduce your muscle mass than your fat.

weight lifting builds muscle, it doesnt burn fat.
the only way to get rid of fat is by overall weight loss.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

The more muscle your body has, the more fat it burns. The muscle you get from weight lifting helps you burn fat while you're resting. And you need a good cardiovascular workout at least three days a week. A forty minute cardio work out will burn fat. (If you work out longer, your body will start to burn muscle tissue).
Eat a healthy, nutritious diet, cut back on carbs and fat.

You can try a combination of abdominal exercises, along with your treadmill and weight lifting. Building muscle will help burn more fat, so that's good. You might need to change your diet as well. Eat more protein and fewer (don't stop, just cut back) carbs. Drink more water. Good luck.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!

Music makes you eat more. According to a report by the journal Psychology along with Marketing, soft, classical tunes encourage that you take time over your supper, so you consume more foodstuff. So, switch off – silence is likely to make you more aware of what you’re applying your mouth.

Purchase smaller plates. Little crockery means portion control is really a lot easier – those diminutive servings suddenly look huge and you’ll be happier to consume less.
