The Mona Lisa was a painting by one of the greatest artists who ever lived, Leonardo daVinci. She was, in fact, a Renaissance noblewoman who had her portrait done by him. Her smile is said to be mysterious, and now many people (scholars, and more accurately, those who fancy themselves as such) have fabricated some sort of speculation about davinci weaving various messages and codes into the painting, hence the whole deal with the davinci code. I see it as simpy this: a beautifully painted portrait of a woman during one of the most significant points of human history. Nothing more.

I've seen the Mona Lisa. She's amazing. Impossible to comprehend. It's like looking at a real person. A real person, with problems and everything hidden behind that smile. Truly astounding.

Because, it's very very odd to see a still life portrait where the person being painted is smiling. It would take a seriously long time to paint someone, so the models couldn't sit there smiling in the same position for hours a day.

The smile and the overall facial expression is ambiguous, and so natural in the most human way. Leonardo captures this facet of human nature, the ambiguous creature in the foreground, against the backround of landscape that doesn't have a place in Florentine portraiture. Leonardo is a masterful innovator. He has successfully conjoined elements through omission and inclusion of certain key features. Look at the details and you'll discover many surprising things.

It's a mystery, No one knows if it's a man or women in the painting. That's is why the smile is.... so mystifying .Some people think the painting is The artist himself. odd huh? I love the painting. It's a wonderful work of art.

Because the smile Da Vinci portrayed her with remains indefinable. There is nothing certain about it ... only a hint ... and the viewer is always left pondering what her true expression represents. It's human curiosity because no one really knows the answer. So many theories ... speculations ...no real answers.

well what i know about it is that. Leonardo DA Vince was working on it for many years but never finished. But they do not know if she was a real woman or not. they think it started as a painting of a farmers wife.
