In January last year I decided I needed to lose some weight, which now I think is a bit mad cos I am only about 9 and a half stone and a lot of that is my DD boobs. Anyway I started getting a bit obsessed and I'd eat loads on purpose and then make myself sick. I did it about 2 or 3 times a week and by July had lost about a stone and was looking pretty slim. After that I just did it now and again and am now back to my normal weight. Was this bulumia? Usually I don't worry about my weight, but at that time it was as if a paranoia just washed over me. I worry about feeling like that again. I was always aware of what I was doing but saw it as a 'make yourself sick' diet rather than an illness. I know normal bulumia usually lasts a few years. It just felt so easy and I'm worried that if Iput on any more weight I will do it again, even though I know what it does to my health (and teeth). Any had similar experiences?
p.s I couldn't go to a doctor. I haven't done it for ages.

There is the diagnostic criteria for bulima. There is also ED-NOS, Eating Disorder Not Otherwise specified which is more "lax" (for lack of a better word) in criteria.

I know how it feels to fall into disodered eating and out again etc etc. Mm. I hope you stay safe.

Yes, it is still bulimia. Usually it is a sign of bad body image. I had the same thing. I used to do it off and on when I was young, now I am 31 and I still at times have urges to throw up my food after eating. But I have not done it for almost 7 years! Yeah! Just don't do it again, it is so bad for you. If you find yourself wanting to do it again, do some research on the long term effects of Bulimia. That is what cured me!

Just remember you are worth too much to waste your life. I am overweight right now, actually the heaviest I have ever been and I am trying to lose weight the right way, exercise and eating right! It is very fulfilling knowing what I have done in the past! Even though I am overweight, I try to remember that people like me for who I am, not what I look like, unless they are totally shallow!

Good for you for kicking the habit! You go girl!

If you are having 2-3 episodes a week you meet the diagnostic criteria for bulimia. This behavior can damage your heart, esophagus, throat and the enamel on your teeth. If you have not done it in awhile then maybe you have some sort of control. You need to work on coping with emotions if you start thinking about his again.

Bulimia is a mental disease as much as a physical disease...people who believe they are overweight (whether it is true or not) eat exessive amounts of food then purge it to make themselves lose what they ate plus anything else in their system. If you were doing this, it is quite possible you were/are bulimic. You should go to a doctor now...even if it has been a long time...make a first appointment and follow up. If you do continue to binge and purge, you'll not only realize you have this problem, but you'll see other problems as well. It can cause your hair to fall out, your nails to stop growing or to turn colors. If you use your finger to make yourself throw up, you'll get acid marks eventually on that finger(s). You chance messing up your throat, mouth, teeth, stomach, etc. from the acid that is meant to stay in your stomach. There are numerous other problems you can encounter as well. See a doctor and stop doing it.

I went through a phase just like that. And yes, I think it was borderline bulimia
