Just wondering if anyone knew how the mini cooper actually holds up when it hits another car, or more specifically an SUV or truck. I know that the have awesome crash RATINGS, but how do they fare when the hit, or get hit by a LARGE vehicle? People with experience, please respond, and I am sorry if you got hurt! Thanks so much for anyone who actually knows something!

I work for a major insurance company and have inspected first hand many Coopers that were involved in crashes. While they do indeed hold-up very well in a crash let's face it -- if a Mini tangles with a Humvee who do you think will survive? There's no getting around the laws of physics.

Well first of all I don't understand he people who buy the Mini Cooper. But if you were to get rear ended by a truck or SUV at 35 MPH, you chances of survival aren't all that great. In fact I won't buy any car at all, I'll just stick with my Ford Escape. And to those who use the argument, that if your a safe driver you have nothing to worry about. Nothing can be further from the truth, one day I was sitting a stop light, and I was rear ended by a Ford F250 at about 30 MPH, it this had happened in a smaller vehicle, no telling what the outcome would of been, but since I was high up, my car didn't have any damage.

I have experience with crashes, not necessarily the Cooper though. It is like a physics question. Mass tends to stay in the position that it is in. If you have a 6000 lb truck going down the road at 70, and you try and put a light Cooper in it's way, then what you think? Which one would you want to be in. Enough said. good luck.
