Unfortunately, weight lost is not as simple and straightfoward as media and people make it seem. We live in a culture that thrives off of instant gratification thanks to certain advancements in technologies. So, this is my question to the easiest way to lose weight, you have to get to know your body. Not all diets are the best for people, nor are all exercises.
Diet and exercise is a lifestyle, not something that is done for only a few months, gain weight again, then get back on it. Thats not healthy for your body. And so the exercise you should do should meet the average 150 min a week cardio, exercises for toning, and flexibility, and make it fun too so that you wouldn't mind doing it. I personally like going to the gym, but there are those who love dancing, playing tennis, yoga, etc.
The same for diets, there are some diets that are the greatest for some people, but not others. My sister loves the South Beach diet, I tried it for 1 week and wanted to die. And so instead, I did it the slower way and just ate the average 1500 calories that I am supposed to eat, exercised 5 hours a week (30 min cardio, 30 min weights 5 days a week) and lost 15 pounds in a few months and kept it off. Since it was an easy diet and an easy way to exercise, I kept to it, lost the weight and kept it off. My sister did to, but it was because the SBD was the best for her

I think you mean how can you lose excess fat dont you? Judging your health by watching your weight is a damned silly idea because you can weigh 3oolbs and be mister universe.....muscles weigh more than fat so watching your weight is not a reliable method of discerning how healthy you are. I would advocate weight training to replace the flabby bits with lean muscle mass, your weight will go up but your body will be more toned and efficient. Use a tape measure and note your arms, thighs, waist hips and chest measurements. Exercise for a month and check em again. Keep going till you get down to your goal weight. Walk 20 minutes each day away from the house then turn around and walk back, vary the route so you dont get bored. Buy some dumbells and work your arms, shoulders, chest triceps etc, you can also do freestanding squats, they are great for building up leg strength. For cardio (or any exercise programme) get a checkup by your doctor first and then try skipping to get the heart rate up, dont overdo it.
Eat more vegetables, drink more water, one thing I do regularly is boil all my meals, i.e a small pork chop with cabbage and potatoes can be a feast fit for a king but is also healtheir than fast foods, like big macs and KFC, to hell with junkfoods.
Eat berries coz theyre full of vitamins, use olive oil coz its good for the heart, drink red wine coz its great for the arteries etc, fruit, nuts, wholemal breads, cereals, and cut out as many carbs as you can, drink skim milk, freshly made vegetable juices, and only eat fish and chicken if that helps.
Spinach, silverbeet, beans, apples, pears, bananas, pineapples its all good.

determine your daily calore needs for your current condition. then drop that amount by 500 calores. start walking and work up to jogging. when you think you have reached your limit do just a little more. eat more protean than carbs 40% protean 30% carbs 30% good fats. push yourself just past your comfort zone each time you walk and the weight will drop off. also check out ( body for life ) I did the 12 week program and it changed my life. Good luck Russ do this for 6 days then on the seventh day eat whatever you want. this is not a diet it is a way of eating. 5-6 small meal daily every 2-3 hours apart

A healthy well balanced diet were you have 3 meals per day and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, I've lost just over 2 stone since the beginning of February by doing the Slimming World diet, its really good, your never hungry as there is so much choice and so much to eat you can even have chocolate and snacks each day as long as you stick to the plan, have a nosey at their site at www.slimmingworld.co.uk and see what you think for yourself.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Run Run Run!!! I did my knee in a while back and couldn't run properly and put on soooooo much weight!!! Now my knee's sorted I can run at the gym again and the weight's falling off me. I reckon the exercise is so much more important than the diet. It's all relative, if you burn off more food than you put in, you'll lose weight, but obviously if you eat more than you burn off, you'll put it on. You can afford to eat a lot if you're prepared to exercise loads. I love food, not junk food luckily enough, but wouldn't want to eat any less, so I have to do tons of exercise to stay slim, but hey, it's worth it coz I get to eat plenty!!

1 Balanced diet-eat everything, just reduce portions.
2 Exercise-walking proved quite a saviour for me.
3 Water-1 to 2 litres per day would do.

to lower and count calories consumed, and exercise. The aim is to burn more calories than consumed. say for instance you ate 1000 calories a day and burnt 500 calories exercising, that means your intake will be 500 calories... over a month that would mean you would consume 10000 calories, which is probably around 5000 less than usual - your body would start to eat away at your fat reserves for energy. Also eating little and often will speed up metabolism.
