Buy a bottle of lemon juice - put it into a spray bottle and spray it on your hair when you get to the beach.

Your hair will probably lighten in the sun somewhat on its own...I've heard lemon juice commonly used as a lightener, but before you try anything do some research on it (much info can be found online). Be careful not to use something that will severely dry/damage the hair or cause it to break easily.

I've got dark hair also and am looking soon to get some professional highlights put in...I used sun-in MANY years ago and went totally blond...and fried my hair...lol!

Squeeze lemon juice on your hair, the sun will lighten the hair covered with juice. Works best on blondes, but brunettes benefit, as well.

Suggestion. Use lots of sunscreen to keep your skin young. There are many bleached blondes in their 30's who look 20 years older because they have ruined their skin.
Ultraviolet light from the sun is the most common hair-bleaching agent. Lemon juice is sometimes added to speed up the process of reducing the double bonds in hair pigments to single bonds.
However, the most famous hair bleach is hydrogen peroxide of peroxide blonde fame. Unlike sunlight and lemon juice, peroxide is an oxidizing bleach, and its effects are less easily undone.

Sounds crazy but lemon juice works great as long as you dont have any red in your hair in which case it may come out orange.
