This may be part of your reason:

"Certainly swimming is a physical activity but ½ hour of swimming often seems to be much more exhausting than ½ hour of other sports activities. If your child is in an upper level class the answer may lie in your water bottle. Proper hydration is very important particularly in a warm water facility like Aqua Culture. It’s easy, and common, to mistakenly figure that because your sweat isn’t obvious, that it’s not happening. You can sweat off 6 to 8 ounces every 15 minutes in the pool. Following are some Smart Swimmers Drinking Rules:
1. Take a healthy swig of fresh water (not pool water) every 15 minutes.
2. Prehydrate. Drink 2 to 3 cups of water an hour before swimming.
3. Drink before you are thirsty.
Staying fully hydrated will also help with the post swim munchies. "

That is an easy one. You feel so hungry due to the high activity level. It is no different then when you do any other type of strenuous workout. You feel famished! Yes, we all run for food after swimming! Swimming is an excellent calorie burner and tones your muscles at the same time. So after such an enjoyable work out try to fill yourself up with healthy food low in fat . After all why would you want to replace all those calories you just burned ? Also remember to drink allot of fluids while swimming. Swimming for along period of time without proper hydration can lead to dehydration and leg cramps. I saved my brothers life in the middle of a Lake years ago when both of his legs cramped up and he could not swim.My brother was a very good swimmer but was not properly hydrated before the swim !....Also, only eat a light meal before swimming as this to will also keep you from getting stomach cramps while swimming. Hope this answerer's your question......laceyemerill

I think perhaps you've asked the quintessential question! There are several reasons for bad grammar and spelling. For many here, English is not their first language. So their questions sometimes don't have the right syntax. Another thing, there are a lot of young users. The age range here is huge. A lot of users don't know HOW to spell or construct a sentence. For whatever reason. And lastly, people are just too lazy to bother. Text messaging and IM use has made us lazy. When I'm in IM I rarely capitalize sentences. But I don't let it carry over into my daily life.

Swimming is one of the best exercises there is:

Swimming is an excellent form of exercise. Because the density of the human body is approximately similar to that of water, the body is supported by the water and less stress is therefore placed on joints and bones. Therefore, swimming is frequently used as an exercise in rehabilitation after injuries or for those with disabilities.

Resistance swimming is one form of swimming exercise. It is done either for training purposes, to hold the swimmer in place for stroke analysis, or to enable swimming in a confined space for athletic or therapeutic reasons. Resistance swimming can be done either against a stream of moving water (often termed a swimming machine) or by holding the swimmer stationary with elastic attachments.

Swimming is primarily an aerobic exercise due to the long exercise time, requiring a constant oxygen supply to the muscles, except for short sprints where the muscles work anaerobically. As with most aerobic exercise it is believed to reduce the harmful effects of stress

There is just something about being outside and in the water that whets our appetites. I think sometimes just the idea of getting back to nature does it; plus all that exercise from swimming helps us to lose some calories.

b/c you use up a lot of calories and energy to swim. So your body craves the calories and fat that it lost from the swimming in food.
that's why swimmers have to have a proper diet with enough calories to help them get through the swimming and not become dizzy and etc.

swimming requires a lot of energy and afterwards, your body needs to recharge by eating, and or sleeping.

yes!!! energy=calories

calorie= the amount of energy needed to raise 1 cc of water 1 degree Celsius (you can think of the water in your body, not the water your swimming in)

I dunno. Maybe because you burn off all that energy and calories and it makes you hungry again. Yet, the funnier thing is, fter you eat, ya wanna get back in but if you do you get a belly-ache.
